thing is: in melonDS, the ARM9 changes the RAM size while the ARM7 is still busy clearing RAM, causing the ARM9 code to be erased -- you guess how this goes.

what about icache? Shouldn't that allow the ARM9 to continue running?

the caches are disabled when the code in question is running

well then shouldn't the execution from uncached main ram be incredibly slow for the ARM9?

Is timing17 still alive?

it has been merged a few days ago and is included in 0.9.3. Though I did a bit of testing and no (known) timing bug including this one has been fixed through it.

EDIT: timing17 is not to be confused with arm9timinghack which is terrible, but does in fact makes World Ends With You work.

have you enabled the JIT recompiler?

note that a lot of games already have their 3d graphics running at only 30 fps including all the Pokemon games, so melonDS already skips rendering every second frame, so frame skip wouldn't make a difference here.

Can you tell me what kind of cpu you have?

I am however interested in how to change the game code? I'd love to see if that's the correct workaround.

if you can use a hex editor, you need to change the 4 bytes at offset 0xC (the first two bytes should be IR before the edit) to CPUD (that's the game code of Pokemon Platinum it doesn't have IR, but I'm pretty sure it uses the same save type as B/W).

if I'm understanding this correctly you're suggesting that instead of making an emulator we should just run the games on original hw...?

I'm assuming you're using an iOS device? We don't support that version. But just guessing the issue sounds like the phone is just too slow.

savestates aren't and never were compatible across versions

I fixed your savestates, they should be eable to load fine on 0.9.1 now, then you can save reguarly and move over to 0.9.3

I can delete your thread, idk about you. Though it doesn't really matter, we have so many duplicate threads, that's just the world we live in.

I'm assuming you're playing Pokemon. The OpenGL renderer is less accurate, so issues like this can happen. We might be eable to find a fix for this in the future, but for now you'll have to stick with the software renderer to avoid this issue.

local wireless is currently unstable. You can try to disable frame limiter and audio sync and see whether that makes a difference, though it will still be far from perfect.

for pokemon rom hacking this site might be useful: https://projectpokemon.org/

note that depending on what you want to do it's not trivial.

Theoretically something akin to layered fs would be possible in melonDS since games usually use the sdk filesystem, though nothing like this is implemented/planned.
