Some news... Aug 30th 2024, by Arisotura |
Uninspired title huh. Anyway, thank you all for your kind comments, it means a lot! I haven't been working much on melonDS lately, mostly been relaxing by working on another personal project. As far as melonDS is concerned, my plan is to release version 1.0 by November, ideally around the project's birthday. It is going to be 8 years old, by the way. I am amazed that it has been going this far. So here's a quick list of the things that need to be done until then: Implementing the multi-window feature. It shouldn't be very difficult, I had already coded the required support a while ago. It's mostly matter of integrating it into the UI and ensuring everything works correctly. Fixing up the JIT to work with multiple instances. Generic is the JIT expert over here, so that'll be for him to deal with. Maybe fixing up LAN, if I ever manage (and if I feel more motivated to work on it). Fixing all the issues that have cropped up during the big refactor. There's also still a bunch of code cleanup to do. We will also need a bunch of testing and QA to make sure the 1.0 release works as intended. Trying to remember all the changes we have made since 0.9.5, because there's a lot. After the release, I will take a break from melonDS. I don't want to abandon the project, but I also have a lot of other things I want to do. Things indirectly related to melonDS (like updating this site, maybe things like a better, not outdated screenshot gallery). Other personal projects. Real life changes and stuff. |

I really wish you implement something like video filters for contrast, gamma etc or even shaders, just like how mGBA does it. |

I have to say that I really admire this project, you have been a pioneer in implementing stable functions that other projects before you were unable to or did not manage to establish at all, fixing the LAN and doing so many tests and trials is really an achievement, I hope that things work out for you so that this November, we can celebrate those 8 years in style, I feel that this project will become unbeatable when it is complete, and I would like to offer my most sincere congratulations. I am not going to hide behind a lie, I genuinely wish I could see that LAN and the netplay working, especially because I manage a small community that loves to play online and we all wish the best for this great project, but at the same time I recognize the enormous effort that this entails, and all the burden that you will carry behind you, do not worry about that, go one step at a time, take the time you need, take breaks regularly, hydrate yourself to face the last days of summer and above all take care of yourself, a big hug to the entire MelonDS team. |

really looking forward to update 1.0! Well done Melon team the emulator is amazing, thankyou so much! Quick question: is Golden Sun Dark Dawn going to be getting higher resolutions characters & enemies in battles fixed up anytime soon? The status menu models upcale but not the battle verions. !?? |

so, i was looking at the recent netplay builds of the xenia emulator, and (from my perspective) they seem to have the same issue you are having with melonds and the really low latency requirement. dunno if this info is useful or not, but i figured it wouldn't hurt to relay that incase you wanted to do some looking into it. |

I wanted to personally thank you for all your hard work on this Project it has made Thousands of Games available to play on modern systems in such a modern feeling emulator. Absolutely no pressure to get anything done if it takes longer or if you need a long break go for it disconnect from the project for years if need being. That being said Multi Window Support is game changing for me and my setup and I'm extremely excited for version 1.0. |

Love the work and dedication you've been putting on this emu over the years, it's the best for sure. It took some doing, but I managed to make Front Mission DS perform on par with the SNES version thanks to a combination of Melon DS and its ability to load DLDI (Twlight Menu+ since it allows for individual game overclocking). Anyway, thanks for supporting this feature as this finally allowed me to enjoy the game. |

Hey there, i've just read your lastest post, and i understand you have some pending stuff to do, i don't know if so much to say, or ask for, but thanks for the efforts you are doing to the DS emulator, i hope one day can try multiplayer/wifi option, and in my opinion an upgrade in graphic could be great in my opinion. i'm sure you develop a great break after bring most of your life for bring us fun, specially me who never had a ds in its life, i'm not a developer, or programmer, but i understand the feeling. thanks so much for your efforts our good sir |

hi! i love this emulator. tysm for this high quality gem :) sorry this is unrelated to the blogpost, but i wasnt sure where else to post this. i looked up melonds on duckduckgo and found a strange "melonds dot org" website. is that unofficial? it looked suspicious to me, with the whole "contact *us*" and unnecessary javascript bloat (if you couldnt tell i absolutely love kuribo64 version <3). is this dot org website affiliated to you? ifnot it may be good to notify others of the potential risk of malware thx again, just wanted to share |

I love the design of this website! Please keep it! And as sumy said, yes there is this strange website that I also think is fake... (like the one for no$gba, that i think is fake aswell) Your real website doesnt even show up on the top results at all when i search for it on duckduckgo If it's not yours, you should do something about it before the big 1.0, or a lot of people might get confused and probably download a virus (unless it's that "redesign" that you talked about, but it looks just off somehow, *very* generic...) And thanks again for your emulator! You could set as a future goal (or maybe a closer goal, to help in development of the emu) some debugging tools for development! (see backgrounds, palettes etc...) Do it when/if you want to! |

You do you. The emulator already works so well. It's the only emulator I've found that can support parts of a game that require DS Wireless Communications. All the others I've tried freeze. |
