Some news... Aug 30th 2024, by Arisotura |
Uninspired title huh. Anyway, thank you all for your kind comments, it means a lot! I haven't been working much on melonDS lately, mostly been relaxing by working on another personal project. As far as melonDS is concerned, my plan is to release version 1.0 by November, ideally around the project's birthday. It is going to be 8 years old, by the way. I am amazed that it has been going this far. So here's a quick list of the things that need to be done until then: Implementing the multi-window feature. It shouldn't be very difficult, I had already coded the required support a while ago. It's mostly matter of integrating it into the UI and ensuring everything works correctly. Fixing up the JIT to work with multiple instances. Generic is the JIT expert over here, so that'll be for him to deal with. Maybe fixing up LAN, if I ever manage (and if I feel more motivated to work on it). Fixing all the issues that have cropped up during the big refactor. There's also still a bunch of code cleanup to do. We will also need a bunch of testing and QA to make sure the 1.0 release works as intended. Trying to remember all the changes we have made since 0.9.5, because there's a lot. After the release, I will take a break from melonDS. I don't want to abandon the project, but I also have a lot of other things I want to do. Things indirectly related to melonDS (like updating this site, maybe things like a better, not outdated screenshot gallery). Other personal projects. Real life changes and stuff. |

I'm sure we all would love to see you hit the November date so may everything go smooth until its ready. Hard to believe melonDS will be turning 8 years old. It has evolved a lot since the initial release so thanks for the tireless work Arisotura. Wanting to explore other avenues and interests makes perfect sense as its not healthy to lock yourself to one idea and that alone. I know you've been going through some tough stuff so I hope you get to do what makes you happy 😎. |

Thanks! Also remember to thank the rest of the team and everybody else -- melonDS wouldn't be where it is today without them! |

Definitely. Everyone deserves credit for their hard work as it's resulted in the best Nintendo DS emulator. To all involved thanks for what you do 👍. |

Hello! I'm from Brasil and i never thought on posting a comment or something. I'd like to thanks to all team behind this emulator. Like, really! I didn't have much money, so i couldn't play a lot DS games. In addition to accessing the things I liked as a child, this emulator helped me survive COVID and several moments of sadness. Regardless of what you do, I wish you all success and thank you very much. |

The future of this emulator is looking cool! I guess it was silly of me to expect netplay coming so smoothly so soon, and that is still THE thing I'm looking forward to, but this emulator is great as it is! I hope you enjoy your break from working on this, I'm looking forward to the day I can share Mario Party DS with WAY more people. The only thing I'm hoping for now is a way to map the PlayStation controllers' touchpad controls to the touch screen like what Cotra does, but I have no clue how that works and I don't wanna push more onto the team. Please, keep working at your own pace! Your work is awesome. |

I've just found out about melonds about a month ago and I've fallen in love with the project ever since! Many thanks to you and the melonds team. Keep up the good work but be sure not to overwork yourselves either! |

It’s great to hear that you’re feeling better and that our comments have been helpful! Don’t push yourself too hard; we’ll be eagerly awaiting version 1.0 and will continue to send supportive comments if needed. Thank you for creating this project in the first place and for sticking with it until the end. Sending you a big hug from afar. |

Love the emulator as is bud, I use to play on my tablet in portrait mode using the stylus I got with it to play games. I couldn't get that to work with any of the other DS emulators weirdly so thanks so much. |

You and your team have done something amazing with this project. You need no one's permission for a break, and deserve one big time. Rest well, do things in your own time and on your terms, find happiness :3 |

I love this emulator and I have been using it for more than two years. MelonDS is already the best Nintendo DS emulator out there. As someone who has ADHD please don't get overworked and you deserve a break after everything you have done so far. Cheers from Indonesia!! |

I have ADHD as well, and it sucks having it. I am anxious to see what version 1.0 of the emulator will be like. Good luck and may God bless you. I hope you can accomplish your goals without ADHD interfering too much. I am also Autistic and Bipolar. Again, don't let anything impede your goals, Arisotura. |

This is my first time using the emulator and I love it it really took my back to my childhood. I really wish I could play gamecube games, does anyone know how to get that on ios or within this app if possible? |

Thanks SO much for all the phenomenal work on this emulator by you and your team. It's, by far, the most feature-complete NDS emulator out there and I deeply appreciate all the novel functions that no other NDS emulator has. SUPER looking forward to version 1.0 as well as the LAN multiplayer function. Don't burn yourself out, though! Take the time you need! I very much appreciate all you do and all your contributions to the emulation scene! |
