Netplay will be postponed
It will not be part of melonDS 1.0.

The scope of this feature means it requires more development and testing time than I would be able to do before November.

You can tell I was in a really active period. I'm trying ADHD meds, again. They work, but I overestimated things, and I burnt out.

The recent wifi stuff was the straw that broke the camel's back, I guess. I mean, why did I spend so long implementing the powersaving stuff, channels, etc, in the first place? That's right, I was trying to fix games that had trouble connecting. I thought I had figured it out, I had a fix that worked well for me, but then I kept getting reports that it wasn't working. I did more of the same a few days ago, once again thinking I had a decent fix, and nope. Only makes things slightly better, or doesn't make any change. This feels utterly defeating. Like nothing I do will ever fix it.

It's kinda like when I make posts about my difficulties and all I get in the comments is "can you add feature X" "can you fix Y". I'm not a programming robot, you know.

I'm burnt out, I guess. I want to put out melonDS 1.0, but I need a big break from melonDS.

Hi, I'm from Spain and I'm using google translate to speak English, I want to tell you that I have been waiting for many years to be able to play local online multiplayer with friends from afar with MelonDS to be able to play Dragon Quest IX and many more games, but what really matters is your health, we love you so much and I thank you for what you are doing for all of us who love Nintendo DS, I am 27 years old and I also have ADHD, I understand you strongly, do not stress yourself out and try to take a shower (because of the cool water that relaxes), sleep a little, play video games by yourself and when you see that you are more animated and rested then calmly continue, but the important thing is your health and I thank you for everything you are doing for us, a hug and happy summer ^^ (my birthday is on September 1st I will be 28 hahaha my birthday present would be for you to be well and to be able to smile)

I’m from Peru and have been following your work for a long time. You are truly admirable for continuing with your Nintendo DS emulator project despite the many challenges and negative comments you receive about your “inefficiency” and how long it takes. Don’t worry about the time it takes; people like me understand that this process takes time, especially considering your ADHD. Ignore the negativity; you’re one of the few programmers who is passionate about Nintendo DS, and for that, we are very grateful. Keep going—you’re not alone.

I am from Malaysia and currently use Google Translate. I also often follow your projects. I admire you very much. You almost make the simulator by yourself. Such a huge job can easily overwhelm people, but you still continue to make melonds progress. , don’t let yourself get tired and take a rest when it’s time!

Take your time. If you need a break just do it. It is an open source project so others can contribute and continue. That’s the benefit of open source and you did already a great amount of work. Best ds emu so far

Take a break and don't even worry about it mate. You deserve a good vacation, especially this time of the year. We will always be proud of you and your team. Take your time. Love from Sicily.

Also, little question: Is there a way to support you, even with a little donation?

I know how Burnout feels. What once was enjoyable becomes a drudgery. I know you have made a lot of progress towards releasing 1.0. I hope you get to take a break from it soon, even if that means 1.0 is delayed. 0.95 is still my DS emulator of choice, due to the excellent pixel scaling and multiplayer features.

Also I would be happy to do some testing if you need help. I can't write code but I can test.

Don't sweat it. I have very light programming expertise but I already know that getting network code at all to function might be some of most cursed jank stuff you have to write. I'm honestly impressed how fast this project has developed and I'm excited to see the future when ever it may come.

Get well soon and take all the time you need ! I'm sure we can all wait for you to be satisfied with the results. It's obvious your work comes from a place of passion and it should always come from that, not from a place of duty or pressure from others. You've clearly got the best DS Emulator going on and that's something you should feel proud of it.

Love from France.

That sounds very frustrating, and I can totally see why this would burn anybody out. Just know that I truly truly appreciate everything you’ve done on this project, and even if you never touch the project again, you will always be remembered for the fantastic and dedicated developer that you are.

On an unrelated note, I too have been switching around ADHD meds for a while, but I’m on Straterra now which seems pretty good. It’s a newer drug, and by no means a miracle cure, but seems to work better for me than some others. It might be worth checking out with your doctor if you haven’t already.

Thanks again for this amazing emulator.
