Recently tried out some pokemon. It can connect to the Union Room. It's spotty, but can work.
Can't get Mystery Gift working though.

Can you tell us about the network you're testing these on? Specifically, are all of the devices you're using connected via Wi-fi, or are some of them using Ethernet?

Everything I'm currently using uses Ethernet connections between the computers. 2 player only since I don't have a method of connecting 3 or more yet.
Indirect connections like Wi-fi don't really work as far as I'm aware.

Currently, the best version so far to use LAN with is this one:

Misc tweaks and fixes to the interpreter
Windows #2626: Pull request #2125 synchronize by Jaklyy

I haven't been able to connect with others after this one.

Yeah, it's usually a bad ARM7.

All I can say is find a better dump, or get the most up-to-date version of DSbiosdumper. And make sure you dump from a DS Lite or DS photo, not DSI or 3DS.

Update 10/30/24 With some of the newer versions coming out, I've been experiencing frequent crashes on the emulator. And it's always when I try to load a different game.
This issue does not exist with the above version quoted here, which is rather strange. Windows #2626 is the best for me so far.

Also, I've been getting a lot more frequent connection failures for whatever reason, but I'll blame that on messing around with my network connections recently.

Gonna try organizing this into an Excel Sheet to show off my findings and my preferred way of play.
Hopefully the image shows. If not, I got a link.

Here's a more in-depth look at what I got.

There is a possible reason. MelonDS's slot2 link in pokemon needs 128kb gba save file.
If you use newly mgba to run emerald, it will add 16 bytes rtc info after origin 128kb save file, which wont be recogenized by melonds. While fire red don't have rtc function, it save file is a normal 128 sav.
You may check if your emerald sav has this more info in the end of save. If it is, you can use mgba option to output a normal 128 save file, or use hex editor to delete it yourself.

If I'm getting this right, then the location of 00020000 after all those "FF" values are what need to be deleted, and it'll be good then?

I'll give it a shot for myself. For science.

How do you mean? There should be anti-pause and background input measures when you're not tabbed in an instance of melonds.

This is great, thank you.

I'm due to update it in a new thread.
It's actually done some updates to play multiplayer games I didn't expect.

so far, the biggest changes are to Gen 4, and Mario Party DS

Gen 4 actually connects now. And I've gotten surprisingly reliable results for Mario Party DS.

a lot of DS Downloadable titles still struggle or don't work yet. Here's hoping they get better soon.

Off the top of my head, maybe it's a "paths" setting you gotta mess with? I can't play around with it now, so I'll mess with my own emulator when I'm home.

Hey, I've been trying to learn use cheats.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to make them work.
For instance, I've been trying to get StarFox Command to use D-Pad controls. But the cheat I found won't work, sadly. I don't know if I have to use a specific rom, but I've never had any luck seeing cheats work.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance

It's as active as it needs to be.
I think a lot of folks are starting to get better at troubleshooting. Social media sites make it better to talk to folks anyways, compared to forums.

I've been testing LAN with a third computer, now that I have the LAN cables and a desktop switch.

So far, not very good results. None at all.
Two of my computers connect fine, as usual. It's just the third computer that's the wild card. It can connect to comp 1 somewhat fine, but absolutely hates the 2nd computer connecting.
Like a jealously thing.

Anyone else got some pointers for setup?

Don't fall for the mistake I made.
Rename your 7i and 9i ARM files to bios7.bin and bios9.bin, respectively.

It's confusing, but I figure someone will benefit from this info.

It's perfect for the migration feature in pokemon, but that's about all I can think of for usage.

Using Local LAN, or same-computer play?
