Heya, I'm Vince, and I'm new here.
I've been having a few problems finding a build of MelonDS in the Github CI. There's just a lot of differing versions, and I've tested a few, but none of the ones I checked didn't have the LAN capabilities like in the homepage example. I tried searching "season2 test PR" like it said, but no dice, whether it be CTRL+F or in the site's searchbar. Can I get some help finding them? I do have an account, so I'll get that bit of troubleshooting out of the way. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

update: found it. I just had to search season 2 in the "branches" section, and it was right there. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

would you consider supporting/incorporating/branching-out to other third-party softwares to help play certain games?
One such program I found useful in playing Metroid Prime: Hunters was a program called "DS-mouse-input-fix"https://github.com/JDoe212/DS-FPS-Mouse-Fixer/releases/tag/V_1.4 and other programs to translate the DS's quirks would be very useful. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

So does it no longer work in tandem with Hamachi? I'd like to try and play mario party DS with friends without having to port forward. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

It's an actual thing, and it works great!
Though I wish I knew if it gets updated on Google play. I have no idea what version I have. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Not sure if this is the right area to ask, but...
I was wondering if the October 7th update will go up sometime soon. LAN Gameplay is really cool to me, and while I do have that version on my computer, I found out a few months ago that the file is expired. Will that version ever be released officially as a 0.9.6 update? Just curious, is all. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I have the experimental LAN and Netplay build from October. I've managed to connect my two home computers together at one point, and I'd like to see if I can connect more over Hamachi. Thing is, I have no experience using Hamachi and every attempt ends up with no results. I know how to set two accounts into the same network, bit little else.
Are there any more experienced users of both that can help me set up some more groundwork so that I can set this up more properly? ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I keep on forgetting there's a fast-forward feature. Maybe it's because I keep forgetting there's hotkeys. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Posted by noR Alternatively, you could enter big picture mode and manually remove any extra commands the buttons do. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I just got my hands on one of the more recent builds, and I gotta say *chef's kiss* it's running near-smooth like butter.
I actually ran three instances on the same monitor, and it's an impressive improvement over what I've recent before. I've been seeing consistent high 50s (often 60) out of 60. But keep in mind, this is Multi-Card Play sessions. Download/Single-Card Play sessions are another story. I tried Mario Party DS's multiplayer feature, and it's running at a framerate of mid-low 40 out of 60. I know it's not fully there yet, but it's something I felt the need to point out. Wonderful work so far, Arisotura! ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I've only gotten them to connect on one computer so far using mutiple instances of melonds, but it actually runs decent despite that. It only starts chugging on - say - mario kart DS when I got beyond 4 players.
Just search the github for some of the most recent Betas. Hope that helps. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Here's a recent test with a stronger GPU. Youtube video below, specs in description.

I was testing out Mario Party DS about an hour ago, and I realized an issue that's unique to DS emulation...
Even if you have two functioning Mice (programs like MouseMux make this possible) on the same computer, I came to the realization that stylus controls will act alternatingly between the players. That's going to be a problem for Stylus-heavy multiplayer games. So for instance, if I'm clicking or drawing on P1's touchscreen, it will get interrupted by P2's clicks, and vice versa. This also applies to the keyboard, but is much less so of an issue if you have USB controllers like me. So my question is: is there a way for MelonDS to use stylus controls simultaneously on one computer? I tried looking around in the settings, but I didn't really see anything. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

So it is a limitation within the computer then, eh? I'll try to see about your suggestion about Directinput and Rawinput then. Otherwise, I guess I gotta wait for LAN gameplay. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Hey MelonDS team. Been having a few issues with the latest LAN build of MelonDS.
First off, I haven't been able to connect a LAN session via wireless or on Hamachi at all. I constantly get a "Failed to connect to the host [IP# here]." whenever I do. 2nd, while I have eventually gotten to connect via Ethernet cables, it'll either fail to connect to each other, or drop partway through a successful connection attempt (only happened on Mario Kart DS Download Play) My only guess on what's happening is that my Firewall might not be approving the app, but I'm pretty sure I allowed it on both ends. And for the record, I have gotten the intended results pretty frequently on the October 7th experimental build, and reliably too. Any ideas on what's going on? Thanks in advance for any advice. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Update as of 8/15/24
*Connections for Multi-Card Play are succeeding slightly more frequently. But only slightly I can hook up Mario Kart DS okay at around a 20-30% success rate, but no other game so far has such luck. Download Play still doesn't yield results Though admittedly, it was still pretty faulty in the S2 version. It'd succeed in connecting the download, but almost always failed before seeing data from the host. Name memory feature is much needed, thank the lord. I don't think you guys know how tiresome it got to just tap a letter on the keyboard or touchscreen, or just forget you needed a name in the first place. Thank you for that. I've primarily tested MKDS, MPDS, and Tetris'06, for the record. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Posted by JesseTG 1. I got a basic router for internet connections when i try them. Other than that, the main computer is a desktop with a GeForce RTX 1050 , and the other one is a ROG Ally handheld computer with similar GPU power. 2. Wired with an Ethernet Cable, predominantly. Anytime I try Hamachi or go off my router, it refuses to connect ("Failed to connect with Host" always pops up) for any the season 3 builds I've tried so far. But yeah, any issues I had in season 3 simply don't exist in the season 2 build I hung on to. Got any pointers? ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I wish I was better at doing cross play connectivity, otherwise I'd help you in a flash. Here's hoping someone else knows.
I may also look into the research myself. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

I dunno what the MelonDS team have been cooking, but it's been going leaps and bounds from the initial August build.
So Far: Mario Kart DS *NORMAL CONNECTION next to no issues. Bravo, lads and lasses. *SIMPLE CONNECTION (MULTI-CARD) can't connect for whatever reason. I have done it in the past though *SIMPLE CONNECTION (DOWNLOAD) actually connects fine after a few failures Tetris DS *NORMAL CONNECTION connects fine after a few failed attempts *DOWNLOAD also connects fine after a few failed attempts Big Brain Academy *NORMAL CONNECTION consistently good connections *DOWNLOAD lolno. I don't care if it does work. It took like 5 minutes to do on original hardware. just do multicard at that point Mario Party DS still incredibly spotty, but I have gotten it to work once or twice every dozen attempts to connect. framerate is about 85-90%. This one's basically my litmus test for download quality. KIRBY SUPER STAR ULTRA *2-P CAMPAIGN fails once, then no issues onward. *MULTIPLAYER (MULTICARD) no issues *MULTIPLAYER (DOWNLOAD) doesn't work great, if at all. ANIMAL CROSSING has a few failures, but runs fine once connected STARFOX COMMAND no dice METROID PRIME HUNTERS *NORMAL CONNECTION works great. Had like one failure, if that. *SINGLE-CARD CONNECTION (MULTI-CARD) it can see it, but does not work *SINGLE-CARD CONNECTION (DOWNLOAD) can download, but fails immediately afterwards I must say, it's coming along great! Don't worry on the download play too much, as long as the multicard connections get more reliable. ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |

Update for this week (might be a few hours out of date)
Mario Kart DS *NORMAL CONNECTION usually one failure but next to no issues. *SIMPLE CONNECTION (MULTI-CARD) no dice *SIMPLE CONNECTION (DOWNLOAD) actually connects fine after a few failures Tetris DS *NORMAL CONNECTION connects fine *DOWNLOAD also connects fine Big Brain Academy *NORMAL CONNECTION consistently good connections *DOWNLOAD Actually gave it a shot, and it gave up halfway Mario Party DS Actually got a first-time connect, to my utter bewilderment framerate is about 95-99%. (I don't know what you guys did recently but it's working so much better now) KIRBY SUPER STAR ULTRA *2-P CAMPAIGN no issues *MULTIPLAYER (MULTICARD) no issues *MULTIPLAYER (DOWNLOAD) actually works now ANIMAL CROSSING runs fine STARFOX COMMAND no dice METROID PRIME HUNTERS *NORMAL CONNECTION works great. Had like one failure, if that. *SINGLE-CARD CONNECTION (MULTI-CARD) works a little okay *SINGLE-CARD CONNECTION (DOWNLOAD) can download, but fails immediately afterwards LEGEND OF ZELDA: PHANTOM HOURGLASS *MULTICARD works great *DOWNLOAD I get a success every now and then. Mostly failures LEGEND OF ZELDA: PHANTOM HOURGLASS *MULTICARD no dice *DOWNLOAD works great (weird how Phantom Hourglass has the opposite problem) ____________________ THE LEGO MAN |
