So you start your computer and melonDS runs with high cpu usage despite you not having opened it?

That really doesn't sound like a problematic combination.

The only things I can suggest is updating your graphics driver and disabling any software which might interfere with graphics like all sorts of game overlays or Reshade.

Software - no enhancements, the most accurate and usually the fastest.
OpenGL compute shader - if your hardware supports it use it if you want high resolution rendering. The use high resolution coordinates setting only affects this renderer.
OpenGL classic - if you want high resolution rendering, but your hardware is too old.

PS2 is definitely too slow and I don't think there is a melonDS port for PS3, especially since it is not endianess safe.

You probably have a better time just connecting your PC to your TV or using the Switch port if you have a homebrew capable Switch.

If you have a newly purchased Switch then it cannot run homebrew unless a mod chip is soldered in. The risk is getting banned from the Eshop and playing online though until now Nintendo seems to only do that for things like pirated games and cheating in online games.

So the Mac is probably your better option. How old is the Mac exactly? You can definitely connect controllers to a Mac.

A two year computer "old" computer isn't exactly old. It should run melonDS with no problems.

I don't use a mac so I unfortunately cannot help you. Just look into the internet, it is definitely be possible in some way.

A computer is deterministic meaning that given the same inputs it will reproduce the same output.

Randomness in games is for the most part just an illusion using pseudo random number generators seeded with things which are hard to control such as the time you start the game down to the ms or μs.

This means that even if the game has not decided yet whether you will catch the Pokemon, if there are no "decisions" to be made differently in the way, after the save state is loaded it will repeat the exact same calculations and will end in the same result.

Each new melonDS instance has its own save file. You can of course import the first save file into each successive instance. The frame steps of all of the instances are not locked. This means that they can receive input a frame earlier or later compared to each other which should result in differing RNGs sequences and them running differently. Still I would probably specifically do something slightly different for each instance just to be sure.

Honestly though, this is silly, just use cheat codes or Pokehex.

We don't make whatever iOS version you are using and thus cannot give any support.

We need some more information. Can you post a video and tell us the version of melonDS you are using, as whether you have any cheats or JIT enabled?

It sounds very likely like a botched cheat.

If you are using savestates make sure that after disabling cheats to save in-game and then reset the emulated console to be completely sure that the cheat is gone.

melonDS for Switch is based on an version of melonDS between 0.9.2 and 0.9.3. You can try loading the savestate in either of them.

Which game? If it uses display capture (e.g. dual screen games or some Dragon Quest games) that currently does not work.

Also what is your graphics card?

Eh sorry I meant dual screen 3D graphics. Your GPU should be good enough, so that shouldn't be an issue. Try a different game whether that makes a difference.

It will probably never work on all games, but there are some things planned to improve compability.
