Posted by PooIceCream if you don't plan on using an external firmware (which are necessary for DSi mode), there aren't any other files to setup besides extracting melonDS. Posted by PooIceCream by default melonDS puts saves into the same folder as the rom, so this shouldn't happen. It does save the settings in the same folder as the executable, so running melonDS (or pretty much any application) from the temp folder is a bad idea regardless. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! multiplayer is more demanding, because there is synchronisation going on between the melonDS instances.
We are currently moving torwards be eable to run multiple melonDS instances in a single process, which should probably decrease this overhead. But we won't ever be eable to get rid of it entirely. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

You need this branch of deko3d https://github.com/RSDuck/deko3d/tree/fix-10
And then build melonDS with this toolchain file: https://github.com/RSDuck/melonDS/blob/switch-new/cmake/Toolchain-cross-Switch.cmake There's probably something I forgot as I haven't worked on it a long. The port is horribly out of date and probably needs to be redone in a lot of ways to work again with current melonDS. Idk whether it's a good idea to add stuff to it, the way the GUI is implemented is more or less a failed experiment. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! you can do WFC play between a real DS and melonDS if both connect to the same WFC server. But local wireless is not supported and likely never will. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

you can already do that by removing all caps to the framerate (Limit framerate, audio sync and Video settings -> vsync). ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

you need to supply firmware files instead of using the builtin firmware (can be set up in the Emu settings). Then you can press the Boot firmware button. If you want to start games through the firmware menu uncheck the direct boot option. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Some people who made a Pokewalker emulator also made it work with melonDS, idk though what happened afterwards or how reliably it worked.
As for DS to DS game IR support it is very low priority as it pretty much only affects Pokemon BW. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

no, melonDS does not run on 3DS. You can use an original cartridge, a flash cartridge or nds bootstrap to play it though on your 3DS though if you can already run homebrew on it. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Posted by AyCe QT is licensed under LGPLv2 thus, it is free (as in freedom) and open source. There is an alternative proprietary license which costs money if you want to link it with closed source software statically. If you follow the build instructions properly it will download it just fine. Posted by AyCe melonDS used to just throw UDP packets around, so older versions work on on a single computer, in a LAN or even with Hamachi across the internet. Though work is a bit of an overstatement, because it barely did even on one computer. The reason for this were a few accuracies issues and more importantly that the instances ran completely with no synchronisation. Thus they would "miss" each other as they emulators would be on different emulated points in time. 0.9.5 fixed both of these issues and to better implement synchronisation started using IPC to communicate between instances, because it is faster and easier compared to having to do all communication via packets. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! it was probably the same underlying issue which also caused unnecessary input latency with the OpenGL renderer which I fixed on the compute shader renderer branch which since then has been rotting there. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! yes melonDS on Switch doesn't support WFC or local wireless. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

did you update melonDS? Savestates are only compatible for a single version.
Also savestates are not meant to save game progress in long term. You are supposed to use the in game save feature. These saves can go between versions of melonDS, DS emulators and even from real cartridge to emulator and all other directions. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! No I meant, did you create the savefile with one version of melonDS, then update and then tried to load it?
And well if you saved your progress in-game where is the issue, why do you need to load a savestate to restore your progress? ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

it is a local IP address (starting with 192.168) so there is no danger.
It is hard to say where the bad alloc comes from (whether it is from melonDS or maybe the FTP driver). If you can maybe try compiling a debug build of melonDS and then run it with gdb to get a stack trace? ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Posted by Ivan951236 Did you go into the audio settings and set input source to blowing noise?
Posted by kikilxve That one is actually a bit funny. If you use real microphone input for games which expect blowing into the microphone it usually doesn't work. The reason is that DS games watch out for the microphone peeking and that is exactly what every other microphone tries to prevent, either with accoustic measures or electronically/in software by lowering the gain. That (and for convenience if you just want to press a key) is why melonDS comes with a blowing sound which works pretty reliably for these games. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go!
