this is a bit weird, how many games support one multiplayer on one DS console?

you're in luck. The issue turned out to be both interesting and but also not that hard to find. I'm surprised this did not cause much more issues.

well sounds like you maybe broke something in your NAND. Have you tried starting again from a fresh dump?
