Yeah, indirect mode can be used on ethernet normally. |

That may be happening for several reasons: either the alternate WFC you using doesn't have the DNS constraint exploit, your ISP is blocking it or there is a issue with your router.
Try using Kaerus DNS for Wimmfi: 178.62.43.212 |

Actually, if it the connection test fails, you can still change it. You just have to go to Nintendo WFC Settings > Connections 1
and then scroll down until you see the DNS settings, on "auto-obtain DNS" press no and then input the DNS manually, like this: |

That actually is a GTS specific error, it means that the server is currently down or having issues. You'll have to try again later. |

Before attempting multiplayer, you should be aware of few things:
1st - Local Wireless is different the Wi-Fi Club. Local Wireless works indifferently to your internet connection (except if you are using Hamachi or such). Settings like DNS do not matter in this type of link. Make sure to enable both "bind socket to any address" and enable "Mac Address randomization". 2nd - Not every game is working right now. Local Wireless is still a Work-in-progress feature, and due to the fact that parts of it are not yet implemented, some games will always fail. 3rd - Hamachi is a solution that is only needed if you want to play with someone away from you. Also, due to the high ping, the connection will likely fail due to the tight ping requirements of the DS. |

Posted by TheBlueNanami This is probably happening to either the app not being allowed to pass through the firewall, an ISP block or a router block. Check if melonDS is in a restricted directory and if it's allowed through the firewall. If this does not work, try downloading npcap and using the direct mode instead. The Pokemon games are very sensitive though port restrictions, so if anyone have it, it'll not work. Also, remember that both of you have try to host, if one does not work, it doesn't mean that the other won't work as well (that's actually a method to identify who got the connection compromised). You can also ask around MelonDS discord: here |

Posted by Miltank That may be why, try deleting WFC settings and try again on each firmware. To do that, go the WFC setting on your game then tap Option and then select the "Erase the Nintendo WFC Configuration Setting" and then tap OK, the game will shutdown. After that, you'll have to set up the DNS again, but this time, it'll work. The reason why this is needed is that, since you two probably got the same copy of the firmware, you got the same wifi ID and because of that, it's conflicting. |

It's disabled by default. To enable it, go to audio settings. |

This seems odd, which server are you using? |

Sounds like you are trying to play multiplayer using WFC. To do that using 2 instances in the same computer, follow this tutorial here |

Posted by P0ST8423 Unova Link features are used in local communications, not in Wi-Fi iirc. Posted by Sloth Drag your rom to this site: https://www.romhacking.net/hash/ And then compare the data with this site: https://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=28&n=4788 |

This error means the firmware is banned. |

It's a common issue with the AltWFC server, I suggest you try Kaeru, Wimmfi, or RiiConnect24 instead. |

Posted by StarkStorm13 You may need to execute the Extra Step of the tutorial to properly reset the WFC settings, check if this solves the issue. |

Posted by StarkStorm13 That's strange, does the game prompt you to update your friend code once you try to go online? |

Both the error 86420 and the endless loop are probably related to ports blocked either by the ISP or the Router, it can be either due to your router or your friend's. I recommend trying phone data hotspot to see if it works. |

Error 20100 is a login error, it means it could reach the server. Check the list of errors with the troubleshoots in the main post, there you'll find possible measures you can do to fix this error. Use clean roms, most WFC servers nowadays are using a exploit that works with regular cartridges and breaks compatibility with patched ones. |

HG/SS working while B/W(2) don't is a strange issue, it almost seems like it's blocked ports somehow. It's hard to pinpoint the issue since it can be either at your side of connection or your friend's. Try following the Extra Step described in this tutorial here to reset your friend codes, this can solve the issue if it's server-related. |
