Either a white screen, or a the following appears:

An error has occured. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations manual for help troubleshooting.

DSiWare works fine.

You should use DS mode for games that are not DSi-only or DSi-enhanced, original DS compatibility in DSi mode still has plenty of issues like this.

However the generic "An error has occurred" error here generally means your ROM dumps are bad or modified, the DSi launcher has more stringent checks than the original DS firmware so it will reject most ROMs that are not exactly right.

Pokémon Black shows up as DSi-enhanced, though.
On Android this problem did not occur, only on Windows (11).

Then your ROM is a bad dump/got corrupted or is a ROM hack. Pokémon Black does work fine in DSi mode.

After acquiring another ROM, it boots fine.

User error above all
