Hey there!

I am thinking of getting melonds on my switch.
Althought I don't have nintendo DS and my question is, am I able to download for example pokemon games on internet and upload it to melonds on my switch?
I guess this question appeard on the forum already but I cannot find it myself.

Also can I still play my switch games after getting melonds?

You need to look into hacking your Switch which depending on the model requires physically installing a modchip.

melonDS for Switch is just one of many homebrew applications which are started via the hbmenu. Everything else continues to work on the Switch. Though you will get banned for game pirating (including installing homebrew to the home menu!) or cheating while playing online.
