I've tried multiple times to get this romhack to save in the game and it simply isn't doing it. Using Desmume on my computer I was able to save using the game's systems but I can't using melonds. I know for a fact the romhack functions as if it were the typical game because, again, it works just fine using Desmume. What could be the issue? The save file is properly named and melonds does in fact load the save data properly. However, when I try to save in the game, it says the save failed. I started all this using the android version but it still doesn't work on Windows. What could be the issue?

This is the romhack. I think the patch number is V2.3.1 https://pastehere.info/start/dkrg670 Sorry that's an older version. I've put the newer version in a google drive. Here's the link to the version I was using https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dIwxf93qgnUxaEpF-POY_ATG8aO4Lq70/view?usp=sharing I appear to have not properly patched the rom. The current version, the one I sent, allows for saving in melonds and I simply didn't patch it properly. Sorry for the confusion but thanks for trying to help!
