Not sure how to make a backup for Pokemon black 2 or why I can only load the file from the "open recent" option

when i try to open the file with the latest 'date modified' option it just closes the emulator down on my PC, but using the 'open recent' feature works just fine, so im not sure how to make copies of the 1 save i have .
tried to make a copy but called it "Po2kemon - Black Version 2 (USA, Europe) (NDSi Enhanced).sav" instead of the original "pokemon - Black Version 2 (USA, Europe) (NDSi Enhanced).sav" but it would not play on the emulator just closes it down.

any ideas?. when using the the 'open rom' feature the only file you see at 1st said it was last modified in 1996, pretty sure this was the file i clicked the very 1st time i booted up the emulator and game but have not tried that since because I dont want it to over right the 'open recent' option that has my recent save file.

never used an emulator before as you can probably tell.
