Hi, I was playing pokemon Soul Silver
So basically I didn't know how save states worked and I saved the game in a file instead of the 1-8 slots.
After saving the game, I tried to load the .ml file that i saved but it crashed the emulator.

So now I do not know if I can still access the .ml file and load it

do you have separate savefiles enabled or did you update melonDS between creating the savestate and trying to load it?

I didn’t have separate savefiles enabled. So from the game I just created the save state which say file below slot 8 then I generated a .ml file

Next, I try to load that .ml file and then the emulator crashed.

I’m also using a M1 Mac btw if this info helps

if melonDS crashes, it's a bug either way. Can you send me the savestate and tell me in which language you play?
