i've been playing sonic rush on melonDS but suddenly when i boot it up it's completely reset-- i beat all of the sonic levels and am a little past halfway on blaze's levels but when i start the game it just starts on the first sonic level at the beginning of the game. ive tried using save states to get it to "revert" back to the save i had it at but no matter what when i open the game again, it's reset to a fresh save

have you moved directory of the rom ¿ thats one of the things that can cause a reset , if you move just the rom without the .sav file the game cant pull any save data and creates a fresh file while unfortunately wont work with the save states you previously used unless you move the .sav file to the new directory

i checked and the nds file and the .sav file are both in the same folder

it sucks but i think i might literally have to start a new save, if it still doesn't save then i guess ill reinstall melonds
