MelonDS is a great emulator, With lots of features and great compatibility. A lot of games play the best on this emulator. But what games should you play?
This is my personal list of recommended games for melonDS.

IMPORTANT NOTE! I will NOT explain where to find these titles. Piracy is a crime. And you should ALWAYS dump your own copies of your games.
With that said, Let's get into it.

Pokemon:
No list of good Nintendo Games would be complete without a mention of Pokemon, so lets get this over with.

- Pokemon Platinum Version
Pokemon Platinum is one of the best Pokemon titles I've played. Its one of the games I grew up with and still play to this day. Its story, though at times a touch confusing, is really well written despite that little nitpick.
This section contains spoilers for the game!

As the protagonist, you venture through the Sinnoh Region, where you where born. At the beginning, The protagonist is watching TV. Professor Rowan is on the news after having traveled to distant regions and returning to Sinnoh. Suddenly, a friend barges into your room and invites you to join him at route 201. Professor Rowan happens to be there and notices the dangerous stunt you and your friend are pulling. Rowan reprimands you for it. Then, Rowans assistant shows up with a briefcase. Within it, three Pokemon for the player to choose as Rowan offers one of them to you to help protect you. Your friend then also picks one before challenging you to a battle. After the battle, you head to Lake Verity, where you meet Cyrus. A mysterious man in a strange suit. Back in Twinleaf Town the player's mother gives them a pair of Running Shoes before the player leaves for Sandgem Town, where the professor gives you a PokeDex before allowing to to travel the region. During this travel, you are to defeat 8 gym leaders, and then the elite four, before finally challanging the champion, Cynthia.

During the course of your travels, you encounter the evil Team Galactic and its leader, Cyrus. The strange man from Lake Verity, who aims to summon Dialga and Palkia. Who then begin to overwhelm the Sinnoh Region. Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf appear to calm the two down, and Giratina drags Cyrus away, deep into the distrortion world, before it tests your strength in battle. After which, you are free to enter Sunyshore city, and finally, victory road.

Pokemon Platinum version plays really well on melonDS, even on low end hardware, the game runs at a decent speed. I highly recommend you check out this game. It's really hard not to.

Mario Series:
Obviously, Mario has to be on the list too, and there is plenty to pick from. I personally really enjoy platformers, that is why I picked this title from the list.

- NEWER Super Mario Bros. DS
Okay, yes. This is a romhack, but the newer team did a great job at it. You can download the patcher on their website, but you'll need to provide your own rom file for it to patch to.
Newer Super Mario Bros. DS shares many features from its Wii counterpart. Including custom levels, custom music, a custom powerup...just to name a few. It also has a bunch of quality of life changes such as names for each stage, making them easy to remember. The ability to switch between Mario and Luigi by pressing select while loading into a stage, and the ability to just save. A feature missing from the base game! I really recommend you check out this hack. Its probably the best hack for NSMBDS out there.

Racing games:
Okay, so...The DS is kinda lacking in racing games...in fact, there are very...VERY little racing games out there. The obvious choice would be Mario Kart DS, or CTGP-Nitro for that matter. But at this point, I think most of us have played these, so I picked something a little more obscure.

- Collin McRae: Dirt 2
Ring a bell? Probably not. Its one of the least sold titles on the platform. But its surprisingly good.
This is a rally simulator. Its not too pretty, and the sounds aren't too great...but the gameplay. My god, the gameplay...You can feel the vehicle slide over the dirt road, and it doesn't feel wrong. its very manageable, and you get used to it very quickly. With all that said and done, I'd be lying if I didn't say that the main game is anything to write home about. Its just your average racer with competition increasing in difficulty as you progress. What makes this game so special then? Well, other than the extremely well done handling and controls, it also features a full fledged custom course creator! Mario Kart Team, take notes! You unlock more items for this course creator as you progress to the main game. And you get three slots to make custom courses on. You can change many things such as environment, weather condition, and time of day. The track creator is feature rich. Sadly, its also a little confusing for those unprepared. I myself got a little overwhelmed by it. This game is really underrated. Codemasters did a great job on this game. Check out this game, even if it is just for the custom course creator.

Homebrew:
The last subject for my list of games you should check out. But there's a lot to chose from. So, I'm listing two titles.

- Super Mario Galaxy, DS Port
What?! This exists? Heck yes it does! A hoax that is now a reality, as some say. Developer Jesse posted this video on their YouTube channel.

Fun fact: This video was recorded ON AN ACTUAL DS!
This project is still very much a work in progress. The latest version that I managed to get my hands on is still very unfinished. And I got it from their discord server. But to see it run this well on actual hardware is mindblowing to me.
Jesse and the other developers personally recommend melonDS if you're gonna emulate it. So yea, its a bit of a given that I post it for melonDS.
This project is insane for what it is, and is definitely worth playing around with!

- Portal DS Port
Yea, its another port. Valve's award winning game is now playable on the DS...somehow.
Okay, yea, its a little bit bugged. But it actually works! The portals, the ability to see whats on the other side of the portals, the portal gun. Its all here. And on top of it all, This game too includes a custom stage creator! and its all neatly packed into a beautiful menu. (Seriously, I love the effort they put in the menu) It almost feels like a proper game! But I gotta point out the elephant in the room again. Its very bugged.
See it for yourself!

That concludes my list of reccomendations for melonDS! Feel free to suggest your favorite titles below, I'd love to see your thoughts on this!

hmm if i were to give recommendations id say the 2 kingdom hearts games , 358/2 days and recoded . theyre some of the most impressive games ive played , both in terms of graphics and game mechanics , plus one of the most amazing soundtracks in my opinion . the writing in these games is great , the characters are likable and memorable , the dialogue is extremely funny at times , satisfying reponsive gameplay , even some puzzle solving , overall these are the two games id reccomend anyone to give a try

third game id reccomend is metroid prime hunters , i cant really give any other real recommendation for this game other than the fact that it brings me massive nostalgia , lots of memories playing with my siblings like , 10 years ago on this game . but honestly even still , one of the best graphics in a ds game and overall a really solid game

Hey there! I'm not sure what kind of games you're into, but I have a few recommendations that I think you might enjoy playing on MelonDS. If you're into RPGs, I highly recommend checking out the classic Chrono Trigger or the more recent Dragon Quest XI. For action and adventure, you can't go wrong with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds or Super Mario 3D Land. And if you're in the mood for some casual gaming, you should definitely give solitaire cash a try! It's addictive and so much fun. Have a great time gaming on MelonDS!
