Hi,

Can someone list the command-line syntax for MelonDS? I would like to start a game via the command line in Windows, in full screen.
Is the command argument something like, "MelonDS.exe SomeDSGame.nds --fullscreen"??

I second that, would appreciate if someone provide the list of cmd line arguments supported. Ideally they would have been in the github repo README.md, but they are not.

Thanks!

It's been an year, winter is coming and I would be staying inside more and playing games more, so anyone wishes to share the command line list if there is such? I've been using the retroarch core till now, but I see it is already 2 versions behind ..

If you open a terminal in the melonDS directory you can run the command:
./melonDS.exe --help

This opens a pop-up window displaying all the command line options:
---------------------------
Usage: C:\melonDS_folder\melonDS.exe [options] nds gba

Options:
-?, -h, --help Displays help on commandline options.
--help-all Displays help including Qt specific options.
-b, --boot Whether to boot firmware on startup. Defaults
to "auto" (boot if NDS rom given)
-f, --fullscreen Start melonDS in fullscreen mode
-a, --archive-file Specify file to load inside an archive given
(NDS)
-A, --archive-file-gba Specify file to load inside an archive given
(GBA)

Arguments:
nds Nintendo DS ROM (or an archive file which
contains it) to load into Slot-1
gba GBA ROM (or an archive file which contains
it) to load into Slot-2
---------------------------

So to start your .nds rom in fullscreen you can use the command:
"C:\melonDS_folder\melonDS.exe" -f "C:\roms_folder\SomeDSGame.nds"
Make sure to include full path to .exe and .nds files.

i apologize for not knowing a lot about command line , but ive always wanted to know what makes using the command line be better than just running it normally ¿ wouldnt it be easier and faster for example to just double click your rom to open melon then press a button and its fullscreen as opposed to having to type a bunch of commands out which would ultimately take longer ¿ im not trying to bash on using cmd , i just imagine it to be way faster to do it the traditional way

it is useful when you use some stupid launcher application where you have your roms for all consoles. You then select the game there and it'll launch melonDS skipping the selection process inside melonDS.

I guess it's also useful for people who hate GUIs.

Is there a launch option for screen rotation?

I'd like to a way to set that automatically when starting Hotel Dusk or games with different rotations.
