Hello, yet again with pokeyman issue.

So these two hacks (haven't tested their sequels or any other hack yet, gonna edit once I do), do not boot at all, they just give a white screen. I fidgeted with settings, I got both the official release and compiled the latest possible version of melonDS, tried pre-patched rom and patched my own game, neither works no matter what. But it seems like those hacks did work previously, as I've seen at least one topic about some minor graphical glitches in the game. I have no idea if there's any workaround or setting that can help, I can't find anything about it, also not sure if it's just my system or pc. Any idea? Thanks in advance.

could be this issue: https://github.com/Arisotura/melonDS/issues/1158

Could be, the problem in this one is a bit different since they at least get to New Game screen, for me it's dead on arrival, no errors, no prompts, nothing, just white screen. Rom seems to also weight exact same as the original game, although I am a complete greenhorn, so I don't know.

I am however interested in how to change the game code? I'd love to see if that's the correct workaround.

if you can use a hex editor, you need to change the 4 bytes at offset 0xC (the first two bytes should be IR before the edit) to CPUD (that's the game code of Pokemon Platinum it doesn't have IR, but I'm pretty sure it uses the same save type as B/W).

So I changed this:

to this:

If I did it as I should have, then it sadly doesn't work, emulator doesn't even recognize it as a game (ticking off direct boot shows there's no "cartridge" in). White screen as previously. I also tried CPUE (which I saw opening my copy of Platinum in hex editor) and IREO (B2/W2), no changes.

Unless I did all wrong, which also is possible.

I ran into this problem yesterday, a happy coincidence to see this thread too. The solution is that it works in 0.9.1 of MelonDS, but not in the latest releases.

How did I find this out? It works on Retroarch's MelonDS which ran in 0.9.1, so if it worked there, why didn't it work natively in MelonDS?

Additionally, Action Replay Cheats don't work on Retroarch MelonDS, but they do natively in MelonDS which is weird, although the documentation for Retroarch says it does work... but it totally doesn't, lol.

I was about to test that with this version based on the issue Generic aka RSDuck linked, so thanks for confirming that. Kind of a shame you gotta downgrade to get it working.

Either way, I appreciate that it's working for MelonDS, although in an older version.

Hopefully players will find this thread when they're in a similar situation so they can get it working too. The devs might add in support for this particularly good rom hack in the future though.
