EDIT: Solved!
I'm having trouble getting wifi multiplayer to work on melonDS running on a macOS machine. I see that there are already tons of threads on this topic in general and I don't want to add more noise but it looks like most usage and development is happening on Windows so before I keep running into a wall pointlessly I wanted to first check if this is even possible. Has melonDS implemented wifi on macOS? Thanks! |

This is a known issue and will (hopefully) be fixed soon |

So to be clear, there's currently no wifi support for macOS?
No worries, it's not a showstopper. I can use another machine or a VM. |

What do you mean by wifi? If you want to use WFC, it works quite well. Local multiplayer however, is unreliable and depends on your computer. ____________________
How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere 2. make memory system that allows accessing that code 3. emulate CPU 4. have fun implementing all the other hardware -- Arisotura, Tuesday 5th January 2021, 22:00:17 |

Posted by WaluigiWare64 Knowing that it should work, I tried again. Part of the problem was a setting I had goofed and part of the problem was that I was looking at local multiplayer. I'm now getting a wifi signal when I go through WFC. ? But like you said, local isn't working. Are there any tricks or settings I should try to get local working or is it most likely a dead end at the moment? If some context helps, my goal is to get remote multiplayer working with Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Thanks for the help and fast reply! |

Posted by khouli You better off with WFC/Online Wi-Fi for that game. If you have the option for online wifi just use it because it works way better then local wifi. |

EDIT: I got everything working on macOS. The remaining issue was just running melonDS on separate machines. ?
I'm still struggling with this but I don't think the remaining issues have to do with melonDS itself. I can currently go into WFC multiplayer, connect to AltWFC, and wait in the online lobby. That seems to confirm that WFC is working. I haven't been able to get an actual multiplayer game going though. I've been trying to get this working with two instances of melonDS running on the same machine and I suspect that might be the problem since the two instances have the same IP and even friend code (but they do have different MAC addresses and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection IDs). Can anyone suggest a better way to test this or recommend what I should first try to continue troubleshooting this? I might have some major misconceptions about what's going on, but what I was thinking of trying is to first see if I can get different friend codes on the two instances and then if I need to, try dusting off another physical machine or firing up a VM to give the instances different local IPs. I did also find that the Advance Wars community was at one point playing a patched version of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin online PvP using DeSmuME on Windows. I'd like to stay on macOS if I can though and I'm so far having much better luck with melonDS. Thanks again. Y'all are amazingly. I feel like I should be paying for all this help. :-D |
