Hey, I'm having a big problem with my bios files. So I used to use public bioses you download online to play melonds, but now I am banned from Wiimmfi until I get my own bios files. And I finally dumped my files, and I renamed them and put them in the right spot. Despite all of that, I keep getting an error message saying "DS ARM9 BIOS is not a valid BIOS dump". I already looked it up, and didn't find anything related, and I asked people in a MKDS wiimmfi discord, and practically nobody there could figure it out. I tried this on 2 different DS lites, and they both ended up with the same problem. I'm really confused. Does anybody here know what is possibly wrong? Thanks. |

There are 3 bios files that you should add in melonDS for it to work: Bios9.bin(ARM9), Bios7bin(ARM7) and firmware.bin, make sure they're properly named before booting up like this picture:

What's the model of the DS that you dumped the bios from?

Yeah a 0kb file is definitely not right. It should be 4kb. ____________________ Nothing to say, so jadnjkfmnjamnfjkldnajfnjkanfjdksan jsdnvj m. |

It's a bad dump for sure. I would recommend trying to dump your firmware again. |

Follow the FAQ instead of this YouTube video and see what you get. ____________________

the Bios 9 file is still 0KB
Does it have something to do with the DS lite? |

I ran into the same issue (on DS Lite). I'm not sure of the cause, but I believe the file format on the SD card is to blame. Here's how I fixed it:
1. Dump the BIOS and insert your SD card in your PC. It should have a 0KB size. 2. In File Explorer, under Computer, find your SD card. Right click and select Properties, then Tools and Check now. This should hopefully detect the error and now your file will have a size. If it's 4KB, try it in melonDS: it should work. If not: 3. You will have to shorten the file to 4KB. To do this, I suggest using dd (for Linux) or dd for windows (obviously for windows). Put the BIOS file and dd.exe in the same folder and open a command prompt. To shorten the file to 4KB run the following command: "dd bs=1 count=4096 if=input_file of=output_file". input_file and output_file are the current name and new name for the file. In my case: "dd bs=1 count=4096 if=BIOSNDS9.ROM of=BIOS9.ROM". If the command is successful, you should have a new file with size 4KB that works. I know this is a from a year ago, but looking for a solution this is the first link that comes up. Hopefully it will help somebody else! |

This fix did the trick for me, had to run dd to shorten the file (was 16KB) Is there any reason why the bios9 is getting corrupted? I know it's the last file that gets dumped, but even in the dump it says the correct size, could it be the SD Card? The allocation size or some other property when it was formated? Or is it the dumper that is corrupting the file? Do the dumper works flawlessly for other users? |
