New+Casual-user feedback here :)

I didnt have this enabled and just lost 10 hours of progress due to a quick accidental press on F1. Yeah, fun times ;)

I normally just use the ingame save function, so that one savestate I made was ages ago. There isnt any way to re/unbind these keys, as far as i have seen?

Might want to have this option on by default, and really hammer home what it is, especially for new users like me - any confusion it could cause to have these extra files is worth the security in my opinion.

Or having an option like keeping the last three used savefiles in extra files first, instead of just overwriting them instantly - modern games usually do everything they can by default to avoid savefile issues or user errors completely nuking a users progress, because it really sucks.
Guess I'm spoiled by those convenient mechanics Im used to nowadays, but it sure is nice basically never having to worry about stuff like this.
Having my only recent save just instantly overwritten like that was a real surprise for me.

Thanks for reading!

melonDS doesn't ask you when loading a savestate because you can reverse it, by pressing Undo state load in the menu or F12.

Hmm that button was grayed out back then, and F12 also does not work - just quickly tested it again (after making a backup) to confirm this.

Cant switch back to normal save file (instantly overwritten), undo state load is grayed out (also when trying out loading between two savestates).
Maybe Im just doing something wrong, but not sure what that could be.

Game is Pokemon Soulsilver, DS, completely fresh install of melonds on latest win10, all files from the usual community sources, no problems otherwise.
In any case, might be nice to implement some backup options in case something doesnt work, if that is possible.

(Edit: And with that, Im noticing that "separate savefiles" doesnt actually help here because the original sav file just gets overwritten anyways. Maybe something game specific?
Title of this thread isnt really relevant, and scratch my remarks about that option - it would not have helped I guess? Guess I just need to do manual backups!)

I played around with it myself and undoing save states seems to be atleast partially broken.

if that's broken since the Qt switch that's a really bad oversight on my part
