Would it be possible to add a custom MAC Address option to MelonDS? A similar feature is available on PPSSPP and I think this would be the solution to prevent local multiplayer issues as well problems that happen due to not having a fixed MAC Address.

for most use cases of the existing randomise mac address option already does the trick. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

though, admittedly, if we add a dialog for changing firmware settings, adding a MAC address field there would be trivial. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

I wonder if there are any DS games that use mac addresss protection on save files like on some PSP games like socom.
If you got another mac address from the one you saved in it wont read it correctly etc. But it seems too much sophisticated on the DS. |

Posted by Sorer why too sophisticated? That's pretty easy to implement. And yes there's atleast one example I know of. Pokemon D/P/Pt use the mac address to check whether you're playing on the same DS you last saved to prevent you from time skipping (to grow berries faster) by using DS systems with different time settings. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Well so it does give more merit to having a custom mac addrees option beyond only local multiplayer considerations. |

Actually i can imagine running 2 emulators on the same network identifying with the same MAC gives problems, since its read from firmware file and most users are just downloading any of them to make it work instead of reading out the MAC from their own NDS. |
