Hello,

I got myself into a bit of a problem with a couple of my games:
I was using savestate to save my game, because it's practical and it was allowing me to save even without being in reach of in-game savepoints
(Animal crossing and the likes)
And when I decided to go and save normally, to be able to do it clean:
The save data could not be accessed.

Please turn off the power
and reinsert the DS card.

So I'm wondering if there is something I can do to solve this, or if I'm going to have to stick to either savestates or redo and normal save-games forever for those games?

thanks in advance!

in the case of Animal Crossing which is a very time based game my guess would be that the game got confused over the changing time between making the savestate and loading it.

Generally speaking in game saves are always prefered, for a number of reasons, such as that savestates cannot be carried across different versions of melonDS and like you're experienced yourself they can also be unstable.

IMO savestates should at least have the option save (and use) RTC time.

Hey, resurrecting this thread to signal: it's not just Animal Crossing actually, pretty much all my games does that now, I was playing Castlevania today and the same happened

I'm wondering if it's when I updated Melon that something went wrong... I updated to 0.9.2 shortly before my first message...
Might try to downgrade, see if it helps

Edit: it wasn't the version, but an option I checked, I can't even remember why
Savestate settings > separate savefiles

I dunno what it does, but unchecking it solved my problem in all my games
