from what I read, the DRM simply checks the save RAM size. if melonDS detects the size properly (or is given an existing save file with the right size), it will properly redirect out-of-bounds accesses to the save memory.
most of those anti-piracy measures are aimed at bootleg carts, copiers or flashcarts that try to accomodate for most games by having SRAM as large as possible. an emulator that properly detects and enforces the SRAM size will not be affected by those measures. there have been games that used tricks explicitly meant to break emulators. often features that emulators choose to ignore because they're too much effort and processing power for very little gain. a prime example would be those Wii games that basically overwrite critical memory with garbage, then invalidate the data cache: on the console, the data stays entirely in the cache and doesn't make it to memory before the cache is invalidated. a sane emulator will ignore the cache, resulting in memory getting trashed. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

I tested more (mostly lego) games.
Chessmaster The Art of Learning: Seems to work flawlessly. Lego Batman The Videogame: Playable. The menu runs at about 20 FPS, and the game runs at about 30 FPS. There are numerous graphical issues. Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4: WSOD. Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7: WSOD. Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga: Playable. The menu runs at about 20 FPS, and the game runs at about 30 FPS. There are numerous graphical issues. |

Huh that's interesting, I guess I was probably confusing it with Chrono Cross' DRM which took ages to solve (and needed a ppf patch at first). Not sure what the issue was though, it just hung when using the teleporter in the intro. ePSXe had an entire hotkey to counter it (F7 IIRC, now used to switch to it's software plugin). ... But anyway tested a few more: A fantasy Harvest Moon: Rune factory - Runs well, around ~50 fps. - the little anime opening runs fine, if only at half the fps as the rest of the game - When the screen darkens when your talking to someone the colours in the darkened areas get messed up. - Sometimes the colour mess when talking can be from a previous transition, here you can make out a house, I was nowhere near that house, the house shown was from a previous transition when I was near the house. Memory or Cache Issue? Ace Attorney Investigations - Miles Edgeworth - Runs alright in general, <40fps, 55 during the intro - A few graphical glitches when screens pan. Example 1, Example 2 - the 3d models when examining render correctly, and I can move them around as normal, but it won't let me examine them (though the cursor works), I select the barrel of the revolver for instance and it doesn't activate the resulting cutscene. It seems to have no clue where on the model I'm selecting and the game softlocks. Dragon Quest V - Hand of the Heavenly Bride - Fails to run, once it managed to get to the newgame/load menu and even to the character naming screen but it won't go any further. plays at ~30 fps. - also took a while to load what it did. |

I tried some games on the newest commit, and many more of them work now! Here they are:
Daniel X The Ultimate Power: Works well, but some of the character shadows are a bit messed up. Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings: Appears to work flawlessly. Super Scribblenauts: Appears to work flawlessly. Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4: None of the text on the main menu appears, and the in-game menu has various graphical issues. Otherwise, it appears to be playable. Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7: Minor graphical issues, but works well otherwise. |

Hey, i just found this emulator recently on youtube.
The video was about how to trade in gen 4 pokemon, so I tried to use this emulator to open my game file which is platinum and i found out the gameplay a bit lagging, so I decided to use this emulator just for trading pokemon, not try it yet, i hope it still work. But still, I'm impressed with this emulator GOOD WORK !! |

Hello, good work for this emulator, he is very good and we can play in multiplayers but I have a small problem and I can't fix it:
I want to play two games at the same time but I can't allow background input like DeSmuME. Do you have an alternative to solve my problem? I hope you can find an answer quickly it would make me really happy. Sorry for my bad english, I don't speak this language very much. |
