Just attempting to do this with .90 on windows on pokemon platinum, and having issues.

Frame limiter is set to off.

Wifi is set to bind to any address and randomize mac address. If I don't randomize the address, then the two instances can't see each other in the room

renamed the second copy of the rom and save file

The two copies can see each other in the room but can't get past the initial introduction phase. As soon as I attempt to talk to the other, it starts to negotiate and then kicks both out with an error.

Also tried disabling audio sync, that didn't help

Did ou solve this issue? Really wanted a Togekiss before Elite4 in Pokemon SS. But I can't trade a pokemon with a shiny stone. I can't trade nothing at all! When I talk to myself, it just gives me that blue error. Did you solv it?

You don't need to trade it, wall you gotta do is going to the item section on your bag, select the Shiny Stone and press A on in to use it. The Shiny Stone works like the Fire, Water, Thunder Stones.

Are you using the same PC with different OS or two PCs?

Using Windows 10 and version 9.1, I have done everything the forum says, connected to the altWFC and used the WFCPatcher to try and fix Pokemon Platinum to allow for me to trade between two active instances on the same PC, but nothing seems to be working.

Frame Limiter is unchecked.
Both Instances are run by administrator.
Bind to any address is checked.
Randomize MAC address is checked.
second game/save file is a second copy of the rom and renamed.
I don't have the liberty nor knowhow to figure out Linux, and it seems like too much for my purpose of just wanting to play and trade with my partner.
I tried this ?version?

You can try this version that has some improvements regarding SRAM. I have managed to finish 20 trades without an error. I opened 2 melonds instances in the same PC and disabled the frame limiter.

I've tried running two different game files/save files, and the same game/save file and these are the results so far:

I can interact from the primary game file to the secondary game file in the Wireless Club Union Room, and I get as far as being able to select a trade before it errors. If I try to have the secondary game file, then I don't even get to try to select anything before the error ends the communication.

When using the same game file, I am unable to make it past the introductions before the error ends communication.

I realized that I was using Nmap rather than npcap

I attempted the trade from the two different game files, and on both sides I am able to invite and accept a trade offer. Immediately after the other instance processes the accepted offer the communication drops. The only difference is that the secondary doesn't transfer to a communicating/loading screen into the trade setup before communication drops.

I attempted the trade from the same game file on two instances, and the first instance is able to initiate a trade offer and transfer to a loading screen, but the second drops after introductions.

I would appreciate all the help I can get!

The only other thing that I would want help with is setting up the online trading/interactions. I don't know if they need to only be through the GTS or through the basement of the pokemon center, but so far my attempts are unable to access the internet (I know that I am using the WiFi selection rather than the Ethernet selection that has been recommended, I am waiting on my new cable in order to try that.)
I am also trying to get it all to work over LAN, so I can interact with other MelonDS instances on other PCs, but so far, no luck.

I tried on 3 PC with different spesification.
1. Pentium G2030, 8 GB
2. I5 8500T, 8GB
3. AMD A8, 4 GB
using melonDS 0.9.2. win 64, with same setting ( uncheck limit framerate, uncheck audio sync, Bind socket to any address, Randomize MAC address).

on PC (1), when open 2 DS, it get 40-70 fps. sometimes it can trade, but usually cannot trade / battle (error).
on PC (2), it can trade and battle with 110-140 fps.
on PC (3), it only can get 30-40 fps, cannot trade or anything.

I think melonDS 0.9.2 can trade and battle IF it use PC with high spesification to get >60fps.
i try it on Pokemon Heartgold and Pokemon Platinum, back and forth

Are the results different using versions older than 0.9? I personally encountered a bit of a regression at that version.

So I was having this exact issue but was able to trade successfully several times on 0.9.2. What seemed to be giving me the communication error after following all the suggestion was I had the "JIT recompiler" toggled on in EMU Settings > CPU Emulation for faster fast-fowarding. So I just turned that off for the trades and worked just fine. It was kinda jarring since with audio sync off I was going about 150+ FPS but it worked!

-Audio Sync OFF
-Frame Limter OFF
-JIT recompiler OFF
Wifi Settings:
-Bind socket to any address ON
-Randomize MAC address ON
-Indirect Mode selected

Note: also make sure "Pause emulation when window is not in focus" under Interface settings is OFF. (I like to use that, I think the default is off). I also used keyboard controls since I'm pretty sure using my controller crashed me twice, but I'm not 100% sure.

Last night I spent hours trying to get trading working between two instances. I was almost giving up. The last thing I tried was an advice from a YouTube comment:

Turn OFF the frame limiter!

And it worked! Before with the frame limiter on, trading was extremely unstable, the Union Room bluescreened with almost every action. But with the frame limiter off, it works most of the time, as long as my two characters enter the Union Room about the same time.

Since I was having such a hard time finding this solution, I thought I leave it here:

I'm using melonDS 0.7.3 with Windows 10, my only network connection on my PC is my Ethernet internet connection (no wifi).
I copied the ROM file, renamed the copy, and renamed my second savefile to match it.
In melonDS Config->Emu settings turned Wifi: bind sockets to any address ON.
In melonDS Config TURN LIMIT FRAMERATE OFF!
Make sure both your saves have the Pokémon they want to trade and save them in a PokéCenter.
Restart both emu instances at once, enter the Union Room with both at about the same time.

As long as I followed these steps the trading worked, and was completely stable for me.

Wow i tried everything until now.
I tried without doing anything(Just see each other in the room)
Then randmoze the mac adress (Almost start trade)
Frame limiter off (Almost finished the trade)
But i didn't knew about the bind sockets to any address that had to be ON
I will try it and see how it is working
Thanks!
(Also sorry for the bad english, it is my 2nd language)

Is anyone still on this thread? I have just gotten into emulating and I'm trying to figure out the union room stuff with Heartgold. I have followed all the suggestions with downloading another rom and changing the file name, disabling audio sync and frame rate limiter, but I'm still having issues. I can't get my two players to even see each other. Ive been using 0.9.4 too, but no luck.

I am trying with many different versions without success on Heartgold. Both players don't see each other inside the trade room. Tried everything suggested, on Windows 10. Any news/tips on this matter?

UPDATE: IT WORKED with the lastest version. REMEMBER TO ALSO TURN OFF THE WIFI BEFORE STRTING THE EMULATIONS!!!

Hello. I am very new to emulating and I am trying to make a trade in Pokemon Diamond. I have tried all of the methods that have been posted in this thread but can't seem to even get the two players to see each other. I am currently using the latest 0.9.4 build. If anyone has figured it out I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
