Hey guys!
I'm working on a project called Project Flipnote which I think will revolutionize DSI emulation and the Flipnote community! I never got to have flipnote when I was younger so im planning to see if Flipnote can be ran on Melonds! My goal with this project is to run Flipnote on Melonds and see if I can connect to the Sudomemo servers and other stuff like how an actual DSI would! But I need your help! I need to figure out how to install Flipnote on the DSI firmware, and I have an idea as to how I can do it! Basically I'll need to emulate the SD card so that I can install Twilightmenu++ and HiyaCFW and so I can also install Flipnote, but the problem is I don't know how to emulate the SD card so I'll need some help as to how I can do this! Do you have any idea how to emulate the SD card? ____________________ Ik this gon sound cheesy but I just ate a cheese pizza |

see in emulation settings, you can supply a path to a SD card image. of course you'll need to make an image of the SD card you want to use. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

I know that, but I have no idea how to make a SD card image, what program can I use to make that? ____________________ Ik this gon sound cheesy but I just ate a cheese pizza |

Yes, I definitely recommend Win32DiskImager. From my experience you'll need an external drive (like a blank SD card) with your files on it, which you can make into an image at the path you choose. MelonDS reads it just fine. I'm also trying to do what you are. I made an image with the files recommended on the DSi CFW guide, but when I attempted to load the camera exploit, I was stuck on a white screen. I'll have to try again, but I hope you have better luck! |

So I made an image from my sd card but when i tried to open it, it gave me an error message!
Windows can't access this disc The disc might be corrupt. Make sure that the disc uses a format that Windows recognizes. If the disc is unformatted, you need to format it before using it. I formatted the SD card before making the image, what do you think could be the problem? ____________________ Ik this gon sound cheesy but I just ate a cheese pizza |

You have to set the SD Card's location in melonDS Emu Settings to use it. If you want to edit the files inside, you can mount it with OSFMount. ____________________
How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere 2. make memory system that allows accessing that code 3. emulate CPU 4. have fun implementing all the other hardware -- Arisotura, Tuesday 5th January 2021, 22:00:17 |

I tried installing the homebrew stuff but it didn't work. But I have another idea as to how I can install Flipnote! Maybe I can install Flipnote on the NAND and then it'll work! But how do I do that though? ____________________ Ik this gon sound cheesy but I just ate a cheese pizza |

The nand you run has to already have it installed. I'm pretty much trying to do the exact same thing you are when it comes to installing flipnote to melonds. I think you still have to go the sd card route, and I think you need to use cfw in order to install it. If anyone finds out the solution to this, I would love to hear about it.
Edit: As I said before, the nand has to already have it. I found one for myself, which I unfortunately can't link. if you already have a nand set up with games on it, all you really need to do is switch nands via the config menu in your emu settings. That way you don't have to sacrifice one nand for another. The only issue I'm having now is establishing a firm connection to sudomemo, which I'm currently working on at the moment. I also realize that you might have already done this since it's been two years, but I thought I'd share this information anyway to anyone who might be reading this. Edit: Sudomemo seems to be able to find melonds, and apparently using anything other than official nintendo hardware will lock you out of Sudomemo since it violates their terms of service. |

Posted by Rayyan Gotcha. My apologies. I just thought it was automatically removed. I don't want to put anyone in trouble or anything. Thank you for revising my post. |

This thread does go over the creation of a virtual SD-card. But it then doesn't explain how to modify its contents.
Personally, I like to use a tool called ImDisk. Its a toolset that allows you to mount virtual disk images like ISO, RAW, and IMG. In my experience, mounting the IMG file used in the previously mentioned thread as removable media works best. Allowing me to modify the contents of the disk as if it was a USB-Mass Storage device. From there, just treat it like an actual SD-card for an NDS-i system and insert homebrew from there. This, as far as I'm concerned should work fine. However you will need to figure out how to do the exploits on your own. I've previously attempted to install TWilightMenu++ on a Virtual NDS-i system, and popular methods like soundhax and camhax failed for me as MelonDS on my system is unable to access the software for said hacks. The closest I got was by installing the app directly to the NAND, which is a convoluted process as it requires an xml file that isn't specified in the installation directory or any guides for TWilightMenu++. In conclusion - It most likely is not possible to install CFW on MelonDS. You may want to install CFW on a physical system beforehand and then dump the firmware and NAND files. After all that, Copy the contents from your SD-card to the virtual SD-card. That, in my vision, would be the best method to get CFW working on MelonDS. Also Don't forget to unmount the virtual SD-card image by right-clicking the removable media and selecting "Unmount ImDisk Virtual Disk" ========================== |
