MelonDS was previously working on my computer, but for some reason it slowed down permanently. It's using less ram then task manager. Please help!

what about CPU? CPU is what matters the most.

do you use a laptop? it might have gone into power saving mode when battery is low/it's not connected to the charger

I'm on desktop, on a fresh and fully updated copy of Melon Ds. The Bios files are new, and the visual settings are default. I am running the ds bios at 1fps. is there any way to manually increase the resources used?

have you tried other things than the bios?

I tried Pokemon Platnum, with similar effects. It had been working the day previously.

are you sure it's actually launching the games and not just something like a white screen?

It takes around 5 minutes to do the startup sequence in platnum, but the sequence definitely shows up

what happens if you disable the framerate limiter, audio sync and v-sync?

Disabled audio sinc, and now it's running smoothly, thanks!

hm, well the fact audio sync causes an issue like that is still an issue in itself. a dev should probably look into it.

Similar issue, and it seems other are having the same issue. It may be due to a Windows Update. I turned off audio sync, and the emulator runs fine again but with absolutely no audio whatsoever. I was really into the swing of my Dragon Quest IV playthrough, so this is a huge bummer. I hope this gets fixed soon.

we talked about it on IRC, actually there is a bug with audio sync: if SDL audio couldn't be initialized for whatever reason, it will still try to sync to the audio callback even though that is not running. the sync call has a delay so that it doesn't freeze entirely incase, but obviously that makes it slow as hell.

the bug is already fixed in the upcoming Qt frontend.

If you experience the issue again, maybe restart the computer first?

Huh? What Is It With Audio Syncing Slowing Down Your Emulator? I Turned It On And Didn't Really See Any Slowdown. Was Your Computer/Laptop Not That Good?
