There's a lot of audio cracking in every game I try to play. Is there any way to fix it? This emulator is absolutely phenomenal other than the audio cracking I'm experiencing. |

Posted by Arisotura I had frame limiter on and it was staying at 59/60. I actually just turned frame limiter off and now it's hovering between 58/60 to 62/60 and now the Audio actually sounds near perfect. |

oh yeah I forgot about that possibility. should probably disable the framelimiter by default. audio sync mostly does the job anyway. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

Sorry for bringing this topic up again but I tried the latest melonDS version (v0.9.1) and I also had that same audio popping issue and the culprit was actually "Audio Sync", I turned that off and turned "Limit Framerate" on and I don't have audio issues anymore, on top of that the game I tried (Castlevania II: Portrait of Ruin) is running smooth as butter as well which is good because when I had "Audio Sync" on not only did I had audio issues but the game was wonky, I had screen tearing and jerkyness all the time even at full speed.
I have a i7 4790k, GTX 970 and 16GB of Ram so my PC is not the issue when I had screen tearing with "Audio Sync" on. Currently I decided to leave "Audio Sync" off and "Limit Framerate" on, I also enabled Jit Recompiler at 32 with the 3 options enabled , I haven't tested any other games yet but so far this setup is giving me the best result with Castlevania II: Portrait of Ruin. My question is: Is Audio Sync really necessary? will I have issues with this or any other games later on with that setting turned off? I had nothing but problems with that setting enabled. |

the audio sync setting was meant to reduce audio latency and also has the advantage that with it enabled the frame limit lies at what the DS really has (59.97 fps iirc). In practice it does more harm than good, though it had it's place because the frame limiter used to be worse. Also enabling both the framelimiter and audio sync is never a good idea because they only hinder themselves (it's kind of stupid that we allow both to be enabled at the same time). ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! Posted by Generic aka RSDuck Thanks for your detailed response, it is appreciated. Is it weird that I have issues with "Audio Sync" on though? when I tried the emulator with that option on "Limit Framerate" was turned off. |

Posted by xZabuzax yes, maybe I wasn't clear enough. Audio sync on it's own is also known to not work that well. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

Posted by Generic aka RSDuck Ah I see, I want to be sure I understand this emulator properly before using it because I plan to use this one instead of DeSmuME. You said that "Frame Limiter" used to be worse, apparently this isn't the case anymore right? that setting was improved and now the default settings should be "Frame Limiter" On and "Audio Sync" Off correct? |

Posted by xZabuzax exactly, either frame limiter on or audio sync on used to be about equally bad, enabling both is still the worst. So right now enabling frame limiter is the best choice. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |
