Hello, first I must say thank you for this emulator. Truly a great cause, it has already helped me complete the Gen 4 Pokedex.
However, I would like to use the re-locator in Pokemon White. To use it you must use download play(okay, this is not a problem. MelonDS allows you to start without opening a ROM, to go the the DS BIOS) with a Generation 4 Pokemon game card inserted. I tried checking all the settings for MelonDS, but it appears that there is no option to insert a game card? Maybe this is some limitation that cannot be overcome at the time? However I know of emulators for other consoles that allow for a "default" rom, so that when the BIOS is run, it acts as if that game is inserted to the "console". Is there maybe an option that I've been blind to? Or is this simply not possible on MelonDS at the moment? If it is not possible, I hope there is a plan to implement such an option soon, I doubt that Pokemon Black/White are the only games that have this function. |

Its actually possible. You just have to go to config -> emu settings and uncheck "boot the game directly" option. However you must know two things before doing this: 1st - For some reason melonDS breaks the firmware it's using(making it not able to boot) after changes have been made into it(like wfc settings for example). 2nd - MelonDS Wireless multiplayer is still beta, there are some packet loss client->host side, that happens since some of their reply windows miss and then are discarded. So there's the possibility of data getting corrupted. |

Posted by Wifall citation needed. I'd like to know under which circumstances that happens. also, you need to boot your game with direct boot disabled. inserting a game cart while inside the firmware will not work, as it doesn't work on hardware either. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

nvm, I found out that the firmware become unable to boot regardless if it has been altered or not. It just boots the first time. If you close then try to open it again it will not boot. |

Nope, doesn't work at all. Apparently melonDS breaks the firmware.bin file(not enough to cause any issues, but enough to make it not boot). |

it's weird as fuck.
because, if you don't change any settings, melonDS shouldn't modify the firmware file. would you mind sending me that firmware file via PM? ____________________ Kuribo64 |

Sent you the original file. You can try to reproduce what happened by loading it on melonDS the first time and then closing it(and then opening it again). |

thanks
quick notes: * your firmware is some hacked version; Nintendo screen doesn't show up, it goes straight to the menu * cannot reproduce whatever broke your firmware, even if I save some settings * the two files you sent me are different though. now I'm going to look for the differences edit- well, there it is. your firmware has shit at 0x3FC80, which I think is related to whatever hack was done to it. that was overwritten by the WFC profile data, which likely explains why it broke. ie. nothing to do with melonDS. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

I see. So it was file related after all(bad dump probs). Gonna try to find a replacement. |

not a bad dump, but it's not an original firmware. likely some hacked firmware that predates WFC, I vaguely remember reading about hacked firmwares causing compatibility issues with WFC profiles... ____________________ Kuribo64 |
