I have waiting for a proper DSiWare emulator for years, so I'm really glad that we finally have one. I have being done some testing by far, DSiWare games are region locked so games only run if I use a dump of the correct region, but with a dump of a nand with a custom firmware (like the one that I found in internet with nocash unlaunch installed), most games can run no matter the region, by far only some chinese games are stuck in a white screen. X-Scape crash when I use this custom nand, but it run fine when I use a normal USA-Region dump firmware/nand.
Some tested games (with screenshot): Amakuchi! Dairoujou - Dairojo! Samurai Defender (Japan) ARC Style - Soccer! (Korea) Starship Patrol (Europe, Australia) X-Scape (USA) Zaojiao Leyuan wo de Tonghua Huiben - Xiaohai tu de Gushi (China) (iQue) |

Bearing that region locking in mind, maybe there should be four Firmware path options in the Emu settings menu? One for DS, and three for DSi - for the USA, Europe, and Japan? The console type submenu would be used to choose which one runs when you click on the Run Firmware option in the main menu.
Also, I tried to grab Mighty Milky Way [redacted]. I inserted the game into the NAND using the new Manage DSi titles function, which did correctly identify it, but then the firmware would no longer boot. When I removed the game, the firmware booted successfully again. I checked both USA and Europe in case I'd accidentally downloaded the wrong region, both had the same result. What's going on here? |

Posted by Digifiend I think you are using a corrupt USA firmware/nand dump, I had the same problem, with a correct dump the game should work fine (but have to be the same region that the game). |

I had to edit your posts -- please don't provide ways to download copyrighted content, directly or not
regarding region locking: ideally I'd want to bypass that completely, but I haven't yet found a reliable way to do so... an alternative could be extending direct-boot to DSiWare. ____________________ Kuribo64 |
