In my current Platinum Game I have run across the problem that "There is already a saved game file. It is impossible to save"

Does anyone know how to fix this? Till now I could only trace it back to me using save states and forgetting to delete an old save file.

I am quite attached to this save (seeing as I ran across a Random Shiny) and would really like to keep it.

Short of editing memory from the save state there's nothing you can do unless someone happens to have made an AR code to remove the save check. Maybe deleting the sav file could work though.

In the future do not rely on save states to save your game. All they should be used for is taking a quick snapshot to try something again or quickly resume later. If you have the option to then always use in game saves.

Sadly I already tried this and the game always automatically creates a new one.

First rule of emulation: don't rely on save states.
Use normal game saves for saving your progress. Use save states only for occasions where you can't normally save. For example, when encountering a rare pokemon. Create a save state in case you accidentally faint it. Also, always keep backup saves.
