Hello guys,
I have melon ds 0.9, and according to the info it says you can use the GBA Slot. The thing is that I keep searching for this function but cant find it.
How can I use the GBA Slot function?
and btw, I want to use it to migrate pokemon from GBA to my platinum savefile, as well as insert the GBA games so that I can find specific pokemon (those that can only be found when inserting a GBA cartridge

just open (or drag in) the gba file before you open the ds game. Also make sure that the gba savefile lies next to the gba rom.

you are saying that i have to drag the save file to the emulator right?
Do I need any ingame requierement on the GBA Savefile for it to work?

you need to open the gba rom first like you would open a ds rom. You need to be already pretty far in the game to transfer Pokemon in the Pal Park.

I dont mean pal park, I mean that when you insert a GBA cartridge on a DS, certain pokemon show up in specific areas. For example, if you insert emerald on your ds and go to route 203, you can find Pineco.

That should work.

This feature is mostly used in DS games to grant bonuses to players who own specific GBA titles. For example, inserting a GBA Ace Attorney game and launching the DS version will unlock all cases in the remake. Some games go further and read/write save data from/to the GBA cartridge (as in Pokémon games), or in one case polls its I/O port (Lunar Knights/Boktai DS).

How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere
2. make memory system that allows accessing that code

In fact it doesnt help that much. he only shows himself doing it, but he never shows how did he connect the GBA with melon ds.

like I said, just open the gba rom like you would open a ds rom before opening the ds rom. You need the national pokedex btw

1. GBA ROM and save files have to be in the same directory and have the same name, otherwise the save file will be ignored. This only matters for some situations like migration.
2. GBA cartridge has to be inserted (ROM loaded) before the system boots up. The best way to make sure that is the case is to disable the "boot game directly" option or start the system before loading a DS ROM and confirm that the system detects a GBA game inserted.

If you are fast enough you can load the GBA ROM after the DS one before it boots, or you can stop and restart the system so it detects the cartridge after loading both.
If I remember correctly the CLI will also accept a file name for a GBA ROM after a DS one and load both.

I have tried, but nothing works
1-It wont load the GBA ROM (Wont recognise it, and draging it doesnt work)
2-disabling the 'boot game directly' doesnt work. All I get is a white screen, it wont even load the DS ROM

Drag-and-drop seems broken in a recent version, but loading the GBA ROM before the DS one works fine for me with direct boot enabled in the 0.9 release.
You have to change the filter to "GBA" or "All files" to find the ROM in the file select menu.

are there any known issues/specific gba roms this may or may not work with?

I got this working with fire red on route 201 in platinum, got a growlithe, so I know it was working. I just tried this with Ruby and I'm on iron island trying to get a mawile and it's been an hour. I can't even recall how many encounters I've had, around 70 and none. so I'm just wondering if I'm being really unlucky or if it might have issues detecting the rom. It would be nice if we could get some in emulator confirmation that the rom is really loaded. I just opened the ruby rom first, then opened platinum same as I did for fire red.

After about 2 hours of testing half a dozen different roms, I would say that ruby isn't working at all in the same way. I went to look for mawile in iron island and I tried sol rock near lake verity, and neither one of them showed up after dozens and dozens of encounters.

I use the 'Migrate from X' option on the main screen to see if the GBA is recognized for dual slot or not, and that seems to work. I tested with Ruby, and was able to find Solrock at Lake Verity.

If you don't see the 'Migrate from Ruby' option on the main screen, I think that means the save file attached to the game is insufficient. I believe you need to have saved at least one time in the GBA game (could definitely be wrong, but that's what's worked for me). I tried deleting my FireRed save file and using the one autogenerated- it no longer appeared as a migration option, and dual slot encounters stopped occurring. I loaded FireRed in mGBA, saved at the first chance, loaded everything back up in melonDS, and both the migration option and dual slot encounters started working again.

Does this work with Melon 0.9.3, and also will the transfer work with mGBA?
