I recently started hunting for starters on Heartgold, to speed up the process I ran different instances of Melonds using the windows search bar. I’m 13k encounters in and starting to have doubts. Does every instance produce a different Pokemon? From what i’ve experienced, yes, but I can never be too certain due to speedup and not remembering the exact stats and abilities of the pokemon. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! |

I mean, you can check if they have different Natures and Genders in each instance.
Like maybe a Cyndaquil is male and Timid in one instance, but it could be female and Modest in another instance. That should tell you if the multiple instances have Cyndaquils that are different from each other or not. Because if they do have different Natures and Genders, then I guess the shiny rolls are randomized differently in each instance too. Just remember that shiny odds in HGSS are a "1 in 8192" chance and having multiple instances open may help a bit, but those are still some truly terrible odds you gotta deal with. It may still take a long while until you do find your first shiny johto starter. |

Posted by MB Yeah, i’ve been doing that but I wanted to make sure since I saw on some other post that the RNG is based on the frame the pokemon is generated. So if I got the pokemon in the same frame, it would be the same pokemon. Not sure about that tho so I just wanted to make sure |
