My first time using an emulator and the key is set to start doesn’t seem to interact at all. I’ve got the pokemon heart gold trailer playing on loop while I mash all my buttons to see if one will work. Any help will be much appreciated.

Did you press 'ok' after entering the keybinds , because the same thing happened to me and the emulator doesn't save any settings unless you press ok afterwards

Yeah, I know it’s not something like that because it registers when I press the fast forward bind. It’s just the start that’s not responding. Ik it’s usually x that’s used to open the menu on da games but that isn’t working either
