The only difference between melonDS saves and desmume's one is the save data footer at the end of the file? Or is there something more?
Also, if there are ANYTHING wrong with the save( a changed byte in the middle of it) does the save will load or not? |

Posted by Wifall nope, that's pretty much it Posted by Wifall depends on the game. melonDS does not check the contents of the savefile. ____________________ Kuribo64 |

What exactly is the data footer, and how do I go about removing it? |

It's just a weird thing that the devs for DeSmuME thought necessary to add. It's at the end of the .dsv, you can remove it in a hex editor. But perhaps a more user-friendly way of doing it is to load the game with its save file in DeSmuME, and go to File --> Export backup memory, which does it for you. |
