Does anyone here use an xbox one controller? When I try to map the buttons, it only recognizes the left and right triggers.
If anyone could copy/paste me their melonDS.ini with the input values for Joy_A, Joy_B, etc I would be very grateful! EDIT: For anyone that comes across this... I was able to solve it. I used this website to determine the button numbers https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad Then just open melonDS.ini and set these values: Joy_A=0 Joy_B=1 Joy_Select=8 Joy_Start=9 Joy_Right=65794 Joy_Left=1114376 Joy_Up=17891585 Joy_Down=16843012 Joy_R=4 Joy_L=5 Joy_X=2 Joy_Y=3 |

This is strange. I was able to set my xbox controller up just fine. I think having an "automatic mapping" option for xbox, dualshock, and nintendo pro controller like duckstation has would be a cool qol update. Obviously not a top priority but cool nonetheless.

I have the exact same issue. The UI recognizes my Xbox One controller, but only Trigger 7 and Trigger 8 are recognized buttons on it. This controller is practically native to Windows, and works flawlessly on dozens of installed PC games.
Edit: I tried jswalbe's suggestion of editing the ini file with the values from the hardwaretester site (which reads my controller flawlessly). No dice. The new button numbers now show in the UI, but there is no response in actual gameplay. Edit 2: Keyboard inputs work fine. Edit 3: For completeness, my OS is Windows 10 v.1607. |

Could you wait like 10 minutes? I'm looking for a post that documented this on a PS4 DualSense and found a fix, but i forgot where.
Edit: It was this. Third reply. https://melonds.kuribo64.net/board/thread.php?id=619 ____________________ meh |

I've moved on, for now. I'm satisfied that this isn't my problem. Xbox controllers and Windows go together like white and rice. I hope the MelonDS team id's the issue and fixes it. I'll still use the emu for Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which is entirely touch (mouse) driven, and is the game I wanted most to play. Looks and performs better than on Desmume (maybe I just need to update it).
Plus keyboard controls are not bad. I used the KB with emus for a long time, before getting spoiled with gamepad support. I might try a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, though. That uses a different interface (Xinput?), and might work. I never thought you were an a-hole, by the way. I figured you were trying to help. Much appreciated. |

This is pretty confusing.
I'm fairly sure I have tested this in the past (with an Xbox One S controller), and it worked fine. melonDS uses the SDL2 library for gamepad input which is supposed to have native support for those. Do you have any kind of input mapping software running (including Steam)? Try and quit any of that and see if it makes a difference. Also you can try a development build from here, which uses a newer version of SDL2. |
