Hello, I'm considering getting MelonDS and I have some questions. I first wanted to know is the download and setup process super complicated? Looking at the Howto/FAQ page I am unsure if I have to download multiple things to get it running. Other emulators I've used have basically just had me unzip a file after downloading and running the application from there.

My other question is are saves easy to access? I'm currently using Desmume but I basically lost access to my save in Pokemon after I closed the application. I posted a thing on the Desmume forums for help and I think reading it would better explain my situation. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'll check for replies to this regularly.

if you don't plan on using an external firmware (which are necessary for DSi mode), there aren't any other files to setup besides extracting melonDS.

by default melonDS puts saves into the same folder as the rom, so this shouldn't happen. It does save the settings in the same folder as the executable, so running melonDS (or pretty much any application) from the temp folder is a bad idea regardless.

Yeah I just wanna play games. As for the 2nd with Desmume I moved the application out of the extracted folder. Basically got my stuff situated on the home screen or whatever you call it.
