i use 0.9.5 build i had assigned bios and firmware dumps in both DS mode and DSI mode i installed npcap cliked direct mode and correct ethernet cable in the drop down and my rom is patched via wfcpatcher i've used numerous DNS addresses all say connection sucesfull when i test them all of this was also done on another laptop that my wife plays because we want to play together but when im trying to enter union room or any battle or whatever wireless we just dont see each other we have registered ourselves on pal pad whatever that might do and nothing. I'm out of ideas as to why we cant seem to be able to play Lan battles with each other i would appreciate help in this matter thanks in advance

I think you're massively conflating local play and WFC.

well first you need to know what you want to do.

Playing online or local play?

Local play in melonDS only works with both instances running on the same computer. You need to use controllers so both of you can control the game. Before 0.9.5 local wireless emulation was instable, but it "worked" via LAN (even worse than on the same computer), which doesn't work now anymore.

WFC works via a server and both players can be (some people also reported issues with both people connecting from the same NAT, so it might also be have to be) from anywhere. Less games support it, but Pokemon supports both. Nowdays it is recommended use indirect mode, because it requires far less setup (no pcap necessary) which could go wrong (and it also works if your computer is connected via wifi).

With regards to Pokemon, not all servers support all WFC features of the games.

Unless you're using the firmware dumps of two different DSes, randomise mac address needs to be enabled, otherwise both instances will be seen as the same the DS.

i switched to indirect mode and im trying to randomise mac address and bind socket or whatever the option is but i can't find these options at all i found mac adress under firmware settings but there is no clear option to "randomise mac adress" just empty space to type your adress my goal in all of this is to play pokemon platinum on 2 separate machines Laptop and pc and play together whatever it takes wfc or not i just want to be able to do anything

like I said, some people reported issues with connecting to the same server from the same NAT. Try one computer with a different internet connection.

Also the randomize mac address seems to have been removed with the last update (oops, I haven't been keeping track of every change).

Though do you use the same firmware dump on both computers?

That may be why, try deleting WFC settings and try again on each firmware. To do that, go the WFC setting on your game then tap Option and then select the "Erase the Nintendo WFC Configuration Setting" and then tap OK, the game will shutdown. After that, you'll have to set up the DNS again, but this time, it'll work. The reason why this is needed is that, since you two probably got the same copy of the firmware, you got the same wifi ID and because of that, it's conflicting.
