Hi!

I wanted to do some modding on ACWW so I edited my save with AnimalMap but for some reason I can not use the save file after it's been modified, I have an infinite black screen after the Nintendo logo upon launching up the game. Strange thing is that DeSmuME can run the modded save perfectly, no problem whatsoever whereas MelonDS seems not to. I don't really understand where the problem comes from, the save file is still a raw .SAV format.

Any help would be apprecieted!

try opening it in melonDS 0.9.3. If it works then chances are high that you're triggering a PU fault, so it should also crash on a real console.

Thanks a lot it actually worked with Melon 0.9.3. What's a PU fault ? Is it caused by a "bug" within Melon 0.9.4 ?

The purpose of the PU (protection unit) is to control cachability of individual memory regions and to help developers find errors in their programs (when they access unmapped memory regions). Starting from version 0.9.4 melonDS emulates it for the most part. If your modded savefile trips it, something is fishy about it and it will with likely not work on a real DS either.
