Title. I've experienced this personally, and have had to tell people to use MelonDS 0.9.2 to play my homebrew due to this issue. It just hangs on nitroFSInit(). It would be nice for this to work again, as MelonDS is pretty much one of the best DS emulators out there right now.

try launching the rom from the hbmenu via an emulated SD card

Yes, it works if booted off of SD card, but that's really user un-friendly. Telling users of my homebrew to make an SD card image to boot the game isn't a very good solution in my opinion.

older NitroFS homebrew will require DLDI emulation, because without it it attempts to fall back on a broken NitroFS driver. that has been fixed in libnds at some point, but older homebrew will still have the bug.

you just need to enable DLDI and folder sync. melonDS should do the rest for you.

It's homebrew I've personally developed on the latest libnds. Also, upon further inspection, it seems it doesn't have to be on the SD card, it just needs an SD card present to boot.
