Greetings, honorable MelonDS forum,

I was thrilled to read, that melonDS is able to emulate the online services as well. Personally, I'm trying to get the online multiplayer of Pokemon Platinum to work.
However, after reading several other threads of this forum, I realized, that I'd have to boot the game ''indirectly'', so I start in the DS menu (what would normally be the first thing to see, when playing on a real nintendo ds).

But I don't seem to be able to get there. The game seems to boot directly whatever I do.
I unchecked the ''boot game directly'' mark in the emu settings, but that doesn't do anything; I also tried the ''boot firmware'' option under File, which gives me the error message This firmware is not bootable.

I appreciate any advice and apologize in advance, should this problem already been solved in another thread.

Thanks in advance,

Leutnant_Eisenstein

Thank you for your reply! But I don't quite understand what you mean with that upside-down questionmark...

most likely you are using the built-in firmware, which cannot boot the menu.
online should still work using that though.

How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere
2. make memory system that allows accessing that code
3. emulate CPU
4. have fun implementing all the other hardware
