I understand the dependencies but what's the need for KDE?

The downloaded binary never works for me. I have tried everything but it always gives me this error.
./melonDS: error while loading shared libraries: libslirp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am currently using Flatpak one. It is really hard to move away from MS ecosystem.

I have noticed the same since 0.8> version. Trading in link room used to work flawlessly but not now.

Hey thanks.
What I mean by moving away from MS was that it is hard to use linux. On windows you can expect things to work almost always but not linux.

When I use both games on the same PC they can see each other and connect but don't go ahead. I get connection broken or melonDS stops working. It's the case with both Local Wireless and Wifi rooms.

While I am using GTS everything works well most of the time.

Whenever I select one window the other window's framerate drops to half or even quarter. It is not the case with Linux.
This is affecting local multiplayer. Is there any way to overcome this?

idk, do you use a notebook? Maybe windows is less strict when not running on a battery.


I use a desktop pc. I don't know why windows would not run it while Linux can run easily.

it's because of the scheduler. Windows's scheduler prioritises the current main applicaiton more than linux does so it will run faster and both instances will desync.


Any way to overcome?

Hi everyone, looking for some tips to get a battle to work in pokemon black/white wfc room.
So far we have tried binding address, randomizing mac, audio snyc and frame limiter both off and on, set autodns off and selected primary dns to 164.132.44.106 and a secondary as well 8844 and 8888.

Basically me and a friend can get our own friend codes, register each others, go to the wfc room and connect can see each other and select battle. It will say connecting then after a min or two say failed to coonect and let us retry but we cant ever seem to get past this point.

Any help much appricated, its strange we can see eachother and no crashes have happened but it just wont finish the connection to actually battle.


It is a WFX thing. It is not working as intended for now.

Currently it uses roms folder which very messy. Desume keeps everything separate with its own folders. Is it possible to make folders in the emulator folder itself and use it for saves.

Let's say you have different roms for different games. You also play on android. So you would need to transfer saves between here and there. I use MelonDS mainly for online connectivity.

Actually, that seems like a legit reason to separate the 2 into different folders. I haven't tried it, but assuming savestates and saves don't depend on each other, it seems doable.


Desmume, drastic, nds4doird etc all do this and it works very well.
Melonds uses vba's method of saving everything in rom's folder. It is not as organised.

The unofficial Android port leaves out libslirp again like the Retroarch port (as far as i can see) even though its based on the latest melonDS codebase.
Seems like the only way to get WFC working for now is just using the official melonDS for now.

This is caused due bad-timing on frame-pacing and packet loss. To fix it you must disable both the audio sync, the frame limiter and the JIT. Only then you'll be able to connect.

I have traded with other people. You need the same dns. Currently only pkmnclassic offers this functionality.
For gen 4 I found no one. For gen 5 you can find players at night. If more people played gen 4 it'll catch up. Moreover we can connect to a normal DS too. So it's a matter of popularity.
I'm myself doing a shiny dex .

It is hardly possible on the same pc. Wireless requires strict timing. you can try using WiFi with friends code. It offers similar functionality.
