Why does the current version of MelonDS need a packet capture application like npcap anyways?

with direct mode the raw network packets which would have been sent over wifi are sent mostly untouched. This requires a low level API like pcap.

What's not working?

You could just remove steps 1, 2 and 3.

Could someone please brief me with the new WiFi settings in 0.9? I still see that online mode requires npcap.

Edit: Also ,when I boot firmware ,it just shows a white screen ,is this supposed to happen?

Online mode doesn't require npcap.
You don't have to set anything up anymore, but it looks like Arisotura forgot to remove the old npcap settings.

So do I just check randomize MAC address(in WiFi config) ,and can simply connect to a private WFC server?

Yeah you dont need direct mode anymore.

Ok ,thanks. Another question please ;how do we add a friend code or meet other random players on a given server?(In Pokemon HeartGold ,if that's relevant.)

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Friend_code this is melonDS forum here, not Pokemon

I couldn't get the libretro core to work with a game over online wifi.
I guess its missing libslirp?

That is actually terrible news, if you're surely interpreting the situation correctly

Would you mind running these commands in the Windows CMD and reporting back their output (in order)?:
  • nslookup nas.nintendowifi.net
  • nslookup nas.nintendowifi.net 95.217.77.151
  • nslookup nas.nintendowifi.net 172.104.88.237
  • nslookup nas.nintendowifi.net 164.132.44.106
  • nslookup nas.nintendowifi.net 8.8.8.8
*if you're on Linux, use dig, and prepend “@” to the DNS server where applicable
e.g.: dig nas.nintendowifi.net @164.132.44.106

**do include any extra "garbage" information the commands output—copy the whole thing (don't forget to wrap the output in [code] tags!)

I have known some routers to block+intercept+override requests to “unauthorized” DNS servers; you can usually disable this, but it'd be necessary to at least peruse the manual to confirm.

Would you feel comfortable sharing the manufacturer and model # of your router with us?

I'm still getting a 52100-1 error while using a DSi bios over indirect mode. I was able to set it up at first but now whenever I try to edit it to connect to wiimfi it just gives me that error. Anyone got a solution?

Edit: On second thought, it might be just because I'm on public wifi and the DNS is blocked from replying. Sorry!

Hello

I've been doing everything i can from following this tutorial to following similar tutorials about how to get this to work and no matter what i do, i cannot establish any sort of connection. I would like to speak to someone in a private chat to sort this out right away. - We can speak on Discord if that'll make things easier since i use Discord often.

Everything i do brings up the 20100 error. Is that down to me being inept, or my broadband being mediocre?

Thanks in advance

hello, I wanted to ask about something, I am testing the online mode and it does not work for some reason, all the options of the local part are activated together with the indirect mode, and well the connection part was using melonAP, it was able to load completely in the test part, only that when I was going to test in some game it said that the traffic was high or something, I tried to put other DNS like the AltWFC and it doesn't work even in the tests part like melonAP, after that I decided to do the last option which was to delete the nintendo WFC configuration, and it came to nothing, only in a new problem that in this case is in the testing part, the network signal turns green so that in the end it turns red giving the error code: 20100, could someone help me about this?
if there is anything wrong sorry, i am using google translator so there may be some error

Libslirp builds do not need npcap to be installed, can be used over Ethernet or Wifi, and can also emulate DSi wifi.
Also, the next version will be 0.9.

Is libslirp in the current version of 0.9.2? And does that mean you can follow the same steps but only difference is you use a wireless connection?
