Many cool Nintendo DS games exist but I would love to know some of the best DS games real people have played. I would love any respondents to tell me whatever makes those games special to them. It could go for legacy, characters, stories, gameplay, visuals, or even musical tracks. Maybe I could even give em a try sometime with MelonDS if I get any special recommendations. Thank you if you respond.

I've already made a post like this in the past but I want to post a new thread that is more carefree.

Digimon World DS as well as it's sequels Digimon World Dawn and Digimon World Dusk hold a special place in my heart as one of the best DS games I've ever played, especially if you're into creature collecting RPG games akin to Pokemon.

Say that doesn't sound like a half bad idea. I actually have a former interest in getting into more monster collecting games and Digimon seems to be an underrated gem of series. Not too interested in getting certain Pokémon games like Sword & Shield at the moment for personal reasons and the expense, but I happen to have a couple NDS files for Digimon games so I think I'll give the series a go some time. Sweet recommendation.

If its a Pokemon game then Pokemon HeartGold.
In general then the MegaMan StarForce series because its a nice continuation to the Battle Network series on GBA.

Thank you, past Pokémon games must have been built with a lot of love and I'll jump more into Mega Man as time goes on.

I would have to say personally Pokemon Black 2, it just had such a great storyline and core gameplay imo, plus it was my first Pokemon game that I had ever beaten.

I also heard from other multiple people that older Pokémon games have the best stories in the series so I will definitely keep this in mind. Modern Pokémon games still have nice cutesy story building, but if the story of Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 is just a little more depthy like with the Mystery Dungeon spinoff games that sounds intriguing. I'm getting a lot of nice recommendations related to monster collecting games lol.

Dude, Black 2 is amazing, and so are the Gen 4 games. Gen 6 fell off, Gen 7 was not too bad, haven't played Gen 8, and I don't really want to. Everything about Gen 5 is good, just F trubbish, all my homies hate trubbish.

Personally I think all generations of Pokémon would have to be great in their own ways, even the ones I haven't fully touched yet. I'm just worried about gen 8 with main series Pokémon games on the Switch though, haven't actually played Sword & Shield myself so I don't wanna judge too hard and a lot of other people seem to like it, but it seems to be lacking a lot a lot of nice features from earlier games like double battles, triple battles, rotation battles, mega evolution, and Z moves so that sucks.

I question weather or not Pokémon stories should have more seriousness again cause the grunts of Team Yell don't feel like SUPER threatening villains. And it's nice the protagonists in modern Pokémon games are good moraled and respectful, but something about their happy-go-lucky personalities about being the best all the time feels kind of . . . robotic, ish?

. . . Then you have the elephants in the room with battle animations and a missing national dex so there's that lol.

I'd be interested to know your own thoughts on generation 8 if you respond however cause everybody has their own original tastes. My view on generation 8 is simply from an outsider perspective after all.

Same here honestly, I haven't seen much of Gen 8 or played much, but the experience from it used to be changed so much, it's just kinda out of place compared to the previous main stream games. I didn't really like Let's Go that much either mainly because it didn't feel like a Pokémon game at all, since you didn't fight wild pokemon, and the game was a cake walk almost.

Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee was a nice little appetizer for Pokémon on the Switch but I think it would be nice if they played just like the regular games too.
The explanation however might be of how the two games were reportedly more simplified versions of Pokémon titles aimed at a more casual audience.
Although hardcore fans might not be the target audience and would not appreciate the two games as much.

I might skip Gen 8 and beyond for a while but I guess that's okay with me, there are still a ton of Pokémon games from past Nintendo consoles I never even jumped to yet. From main series generations such as 4 and 5 to spinoff games like Ranger, Stadium, Conquest and possibly more, I'll still be busy on Pokémon for a while.

Yet again though I do wish Game Freak would start taking more time with their Pokémon games again. The spinoff games look like their receiving more time & effort put into them compared to main series games now which is kinda funny lol. I'm personally more excited to try out Pokkén Tournament DX and Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX. New Pokémon Snap looks fire as well.
