Hello, I would like to get this out of the way and start off straight with my question.
"Are there any risks of potentially altering the connection between my PC and my Access Point using Online Mode?" melonDS emulates an AP, which requires the use of an ethernet connection, and I only ever use Wi-Fi. So in forming an AP on my computer and connecting it via Ethernet, I'm worried that it might alter something between my PC itself and the original AP. I'm just a beginner to understanding the works of emulation and the likes, so this is just an uneducated guess. If I'm either wrong anywhere or my question falls under "stupid", please enlighten me. |

1. The access point the emulated DS sees exists purely inside melonDS. In and outgoing traffic from and to it, is directed to OS means of accessing the internet.
2. Since 0.9 you don't need an ethernet connection anymore, because the indirect mode (which doesn't require it) works just as good as the direct mode. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! "clearly you need to mow more lawns and buy a better pc" - Hydr8gon |

Posted by Generic aka RSDuck From what I understand in another thread is that for indirect mode to work, I need to untick all the boxes in the WiFi settings. I tried that but keep getting the error code 20110. (I did put in the Primary and Secondary DNS as instructed on the WFC tutorial) |

Posted by Cloutan only the Direct Mode box needs to be unticked (the rest doesn't matter for online play). Try other wifi replacements as well. If you're trying to play Pokemon online, note that not every service implements every functionality. ____________________ Take me to your heart / never let me go! I'll forward my issue in another thread, thanks. (Reasoning being unrelated to thread topic) |

I don't have any problems using Wiimmfi with MelonDS. This is also the only method to get MKDS online since I don't have WEP security in my Router. |
