The two instances always disconnect and never worked once. Neither normal play nor download play works.

Open MELONDS two times, open the game in the both melonds windows, active the NSMB Multiplayer mod and now you can play.

Do you have "bind socket to any address" enabled?

How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere
2. make memory system that allows accessing that code
3. emulate CPU
4. have fun implementing all the other hardware

it can also help to disable the framerate limiter, vsync, audio sync, let both melonDS instances run as fast as possible

I'll grant that it's not too convenient as far as gameplay is concerned, tho

I did try that, but they disconnected... again... this time a bit later.
