I've been trying to use MelonDS sometime now. every time i start multiplayer, the fps can't keep up. Now i have a different issue.

Each time i try to do a multiplayer game like for instance Mario kart DS or nsmb ds, it finds the host, which in my case is my laptop. But after that i get kicked out of the group for the following reason: An error has occurred. This is happening with very game I own.

When i try to do it the other way around, with my laptop as host, it doesn't even show up.
I've recently updated to 0.8.3 the latest version and that's when this all started.

I've tried everything i couuld to fix this issue, for instancec disabling my firewall. using a different firmware.bin and bios7&9.bin . I dont know what to do any more.

Which is why i'm here. do you know any way to fix the issue? Or i there anything i haven't tried yet.

Are you trying to do Local Wireless or Internet?
If you're doing Local Wireless, try running them on the same PC.
Also, do you have "Bind socket to any address" enabled?

Yes i'm trying to do local wireless, and not wfc.

My computer can't handle them both at once. As i said before that's what caused the first issue. My PC isn't strong enough to use two emulators at once. The fps is different on both emulators, and as soon as one is much faster than the other, the game crashes or shows errors or becomes unplayable

I have tried enabling that on both devices, did not work. i could try to disable it on both devices.

Edit: just tried it again on mario kart. as soon as i start the connection by pressing the "cut off" button. it says: Communication error. on both devices.

Edit 2: also does the same thing on nsmb(new super mario bros ds). After a couple of seconds connected. It just loses the connection

Can you try Pictochat?

EDIT: Also, does something happen where you have to replace the firmware.bin each time you want to start up melonDS?
EDIT 2: I meant does the firmware.bin get corrupted each time you close melonDS.

Some messages are working some are not being received by the second player

It doesn't ask me to replace anything.

firmware.bin looks normal to me. doesn't seem corrupted at all. I use it to power both my emulators. Could that be a problem?

it's probably just local multiplayer being already unstable, if you add any factor which makes it even more unreliable, this happens.

You can try to minimise latency by connecting the computers directly with a lan cable.

I do not have the best wifi network, that's for sure. I could try that but the only cable i got is currently connected to the internet. So i'm offline while testing it. Will report back if that works

Not working at all. Is any etherent cable okay or do I need a Cross-over cable?

I've never used an Ethernet cable to connect two computer to each other. Is there any setting I need to change while using windows?

I've did it once to copy files via ftp from one computer to another. If I remember correctly nothing special needs to be set up, though idk how the udp sockets used by melonDS react to this environment.
