Dear Arisotura,

You are learning a lot about fat, have a road map for gba compatibility and know how to get the dsimenu to work.
There is a lot of work to do on the homebrew scene and injection is sometimes easier than emulation.
This is just an idea for you.

What about making a custom Melon Dsi menu for 3ds and dsi, that works because you are experienced, where you can inject all dsiware on the sd card and inject a virtual DSTwo plus card modified to read the firmware installed on the same SD.

Then you can make a custom Melon DS Lite menu for 3ds and dsi, where you can inject a virtual DSTwo plus card modified to read the firmware installed on the same SD and inject an EZ-flash card modified to read the firmware from the same SD.

Now you can natively run gba games on both dsi and 3ds.

Isn't this a good idea?

PS: Of course I have to add, that this on 3ds would work in dsi mode, thus not make 3ds games work

if I'm understanding this correctly you're suggesting that instead of making an emulator we should just run the games on original hw...?

Yes, Arisotura wants a custom opensource bios and firmware, so you can make that run on both the emulator and on hardware.
Then you have an emulator and an injector!
It would be cool to see the melonds saving, resuming and closing the game.
But ofc this is all just speculation.

The DSi and 3DS already have native hardware support for the GBA, and homebrew applications like GBARunner2 utilise this.

How to write an emulator
1. throw code to be emulated somewhere
2. make memory system that allows accessing that code
3. emulate CPU
4. have fun implementing all the other hardware

Oh, thank you! Sorry for not noticing. Case closed I guess.?
Edit:
Oh wait, gbarunner2 runs it in DS mode, not in GBA mode, like the nds menu does.
Case re-opened!
