Just downloaded and set up the new build (0.9) on windows and can't get audio to come through. Everything else is working fine. Any idea what could cause this? Thanks!

that's weird.

try running it from a command line window and see what it spits out?

I will try that. But there's not any other audio output configs besides volume?

nope, audio output in melonDS is fairly straightforward. if it's not working it must mean that the SDL audio output is failing to initialize for whatever reason.

tried running it from powershell, but still no audio :( I've also tried 2 different ROMs so I don't think that's it either

are you able to get the console log from melonDS? might tell us why audio fails to work.

I don't see any logs being written to the console unfortunately. Is it possible I used bad bios / firmware? I used the DS bios and firmware files found here: (redacted)

edit: Is there a flag I need to pass in to turn logging on?

I remember that melonDS 0.9 didn't output to the terminal in Windows for some reason. Try:
.\melonDS.exe > log.txt

it has nothing to do with the BIOS/firmware (or if it did, it would surprise me). (also, you shouldn't link them here even indirectly, they're copyrighted material)

anyway, try doing as WaluigiWare64 said.

Sorry for that faux pas. Alright I tried that and it creates the .txt files but unfortunately nothing gets written to it :(

I've just tested it and it doesn't work with Powershell but it works with the Command Prompt.
Try running that command with the Command Prompt.

Nice I did get the logs to show with command prompt! Thanks for replying. Found out I'm just having some general issues with my PC's audio. Not exactly sure what's going on but was finally able to get audio working with MelonDS. Thanks again for all the help!

Bumping this because I just downloaded 9.5 and I'm also getting no sound. I haven't had much luck with the command line stuff but I am also not great with computers beyond "Double click program, program open" so I might just need that explained to me like I'm a child.

I moved from Desmume to MelonDS yesterday and the audio worked fine. When I rebooted the game via the Open Recent tab, though, I had no audio. So I opened it via the Open Rom tab, selected my rom, then I got audio again. I'm not sure if you guys were trying to open something through the Open Recent tab or not, but switching to opening the rom manually fixed things for me.
